Global Commercial Services (GCS) is the global leader in payment solutions for Small, Medium (SME) and Global and Large (G&L) enterprises. The GCS team enables businesses globally to pay for and finance what they need to grow their businesses through a suite of payment and lending products, solutions for travel and everyday business spending, cross border payments, global currency solutions, and business financing.
The objective of the GCS Control Management Specialized Operational Risk (OR) team is to provide subject matter expertise on specific Operational Risk topics to ensure the BU is equipped with in-depth knowledge of risk-stripes to manage and mitigate these risks effectively; supports the BU with expert guidance for topical Operational Risk intelligence.
GCS CM Business Conduct & Privacy is looking for a Director of Content Risk to lead a diverse team of high-performing professionals focused on ensuring control management is embedded in the day-to-day operations of our organization. It will involve extensive collaboration with multiple partners across numerous business units, functional areas, and geographies.
The Director, GCS CM Business Conduct & Privacy, Content Risk will:
Serve as the go-to subject matter experts within the BU on decentralized risks Ensure all activities & guidance provided to BU are in alignment with standards set by centralized specialist risk-stripe teams Comply with enterprise policies and programs pertaining to specific risk types (e.g., AEMP 88 conduct risk management policy), and support with design/ enhancement of BU procedures /standards by providing topic-specific insight Advise on integration of decentralized risk types into broader Operational Risk Management (ORM) policies and programs Develop and maintain a repository of topical risk information, including emerging trends, best practices, and regulatory updates relevant to each area of expertise Support with design and dissemination of targeted training and awareness programs to increase understanding and management of specific risk topics within GCS CM Business Conduct & Privacy Content Risk Consult on the design and implementation of controls tailored to specialized risk areas, and provide broader input on the area of risk Share topical risk knowledge with BU process owners to enable BU to strengthen and embed relevant ORM considerations into processes Advise topical risk strategies and procedures to align with changes in the business environment and regulatory landscape, and frequently review Be a key leader for sharing insights, better practices, themes, etc. across the enterprise Oversee Content Risk team responsible for managing the internal content review process, providing leadership and influencing key stakeholders to ensure efficient and streamlined content review Responsible for addressing staffing and management of Content Risk team including Adstra colleagues, approximately 20 total Oversee and coordinate content management initiatives including evaluating the new content management approval path and driving enhancements and efficiencies aligned with Amex’s risk appetiteRequired Qualifications:
6+ Years experience in operational risk management (e.g., within Risk and/or Internal Audit function) Understanding of critical operational risk management lifecycle activities Excellent project management, communication, and interpersonal skills, with an ability to interact and obtain buy-in from senior BU/tech counterparts Expertise in process governance, with a track record of establishing and overseeing robust decision-making processes that align with policies, regulatory frameworks, and/or operational standards Experience within financial services industry Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to analyze data, identify trends, and evaluate risk scenarios effectively Demonstrated history and ability to manage large teams, spread over geographies and with varying backgroundsPreferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Business, Risk Mgmt., or related field; advanced degrees (e.g., MBA, MSc) or certifications are advantageous Experience in at least one of the following: Serving as the go-to subject matter expert pertaining to specific operational risk types Ensuring activities are in alignment with standards set by specialist risk-stripe teams Complying with enterprise policies and programs pertaining to specific risk types and supporting with design/enhancement of procedures/standards by providing topic-specific insight Advising on decentralized risk types into broader operational risk policies and programsORMCM
Salary Range: $130,000.00 to $205,000.00 annually + bonus + equity (if applicable) + benefits
