Director, Fleet AI Engineering
**A Day in the Life:** The **Director, Fleet AI Engineering** will be responsible for defining, building, and scaling cutting-edge AI/ML solutions that drive significant business impact. You will lead a high-performing team of AI and Machine Learning Engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, technical excellence, and continuous delivery. This role requires a strategic leader with deep technical expertise in AI/ML, MLOps, and cloud platforms, coupled with exceptional leadership and communication skills. The preferred candidate will sit at our corporate office in Atlanta, however, we are open to candidates located outside of the area to work remotely. The target starting rate is $130K, actual salary will be determined base on experience. **What You’ll Do:** + **Strategic Leadership:** Define and execute the AI/ML engineering strategy and roadmap, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives and product vision. + **Team Management & Development:** Build, mentor, and lead a world-class team of AI/ML engineers, fostering a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing environment. Drive professional growth and technical excellence within the team. + **Architectural Guidance:** Oversee the design, development, and scaling of robust, reliable, and secure AI systems and infrastructure, ensuring seamless integration into existing platforms. + **Solution Delivery:** Guide teams in the end-to-end lifecycle of AI/ML solutions, from research and prototyping to production deployment, monitoring, and optimization. + **Cross-functional Collaboration:** Partner closely with product management, data science, engineering, and business leadership to identify opportunities, define requirements, and deliver impactful AI-driven features and products. + **Innovation & Best Practices:** Champion a culture of experimentation, rapid prototyping, and continuous learning. Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging AI technologies (e.g., Generative AI, LLMs), and MLOps best practices, integrating them where appropriate. + **Quality & Governance:** Implement rigorous testing, monitoring, and validation processes for AI models. Ensure compliance with data governance, privacy, and ethical AI standards. **What We’re Looking For:** + **Education:** Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, or a related technical field. (Ph.D. preferred). + **Experience:** + 12+ years of progressive experience in software or AI/ML engineering, with at least 5+ years in a leadership role managing and scaling engineering teams (preferably 10+ engineers). + Proven track record of successfully leading the design, development, and deployment of complex, production-grade AI/ML solutions. + **Technical Skills:** + **Machine Learning Expertise:** Deep understanding of machine learning algorithms (supervised, unsupervised, reinforcement learning), deep learning architectures, and natural language processing (NLP). + **Programming Proficiency:** Expert-level proficiency in Python and relevant ML frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn). + **MLOps & DevOps:** Extensive experience with MLOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines for ML models, model versioning, monitoring, automated retraining, and experiment tracking. + **Cloud Platforms:** Hands-on experience with major cloud AI platforms (e.g., AWS SageMaker, Azure ML, Google Cloud AI Platform) and their associated services. + **Data Engineering:** Strong understanding of data processing technologies, large-scale data pipelines, relational and NoSQL databases, and data warehousing concepts. + **System Architecture:** Demonstrated ability to design scalable, fault-tolerant, and high-performance distributed systems for AI workloads. + **Generative AI:** Experience with Generative AI models, large language models (LLMs), prompt engineering, and fine-tuning techniques is highly desirable. + **Strategic Thinking:** Ability to translate complex business problems into actionable AI strategies and technical roadmaps. + **Exceptional Communication:** Superior verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including executive leadership. + **Leadership & Mentorship:** Demonstrated ability to inspire, motivate, and develop high-performing engineering teams.
