Director, Fixed Assets & Lease Accounting

Summary of Position (Job Purpose) - Major purpose and functions of the position.

Responsible for the daily operations of the Lease Accounting and Fixed Asset teams.Responsible for the accounting related all leases and fixed assets at over 16,000 retail locations as well as corporate offices and distribution centers, in the United States and Canada.Responsible for all lease related payments (Rent, NNN, etc.).Responsible for budgeting, forecasting and reporting all rent and depreciation related accounts.Responsible for establishing and implementing internal controls for the Lease Accounting and Fixed Asset teams.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities - Primary responsibilities listed in order of importance

Provide direction to the Lease Accounting Managers (2), Lease Accounting Analysts (3) and the Fixed Asset Manager.Oversee the accounting related to all Leases and Fixed Assets, including the proper recording of monthly journal entries (including intercompany) and accruals in accordance with GAAP.Perform accounting research as needed and document company policies and positions in memorandums.Ensure compliance with lease accounting standards (ASC 842).Ensure proper capitalization of expenditures in accordance with GAAP and internal capitalization policies.Oversee Sarbanes-Oxley compliance in areas of responsibility and ensure that all account reconciliations are performed accurately and timely.Oversee relationships with outsourcing providers related to areas of responsibility.Prepare budgets and forecasts in areas of responsibility.Lead or participate in lease and fixed asset related projects.Recommend and implement process changes to improve efficiency and effectiveness of the Lease Accounting and Fixed Asset teams.Assist the Vice President, Financial Reporting & Capital Accounting as needed.

Bachelor’s degree in accountingExperience leading and managing teamsExcellent communication skills both written and verbalStrong organizational and analytical skills, with strong attention to detailAdvanced skills in Microsoft ExcelAbility to work well with deadlines and reprioritize work assignments as neededExperience working in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
