Job Description

As a Director, Finance – Distribution & Transportation, you will play a critical role as the key finance business partner to the Distribution & Transportation leader. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to drive efficiency and provide actionable insights that improve financial performance. This role will also play a pivotal role supporting tariff analytics & mitigation efforts, reporting to the Vice President, Finance – Operations.

Position Location: This position is eligible for a hybrid schedule based out of Deerfield, IL.

Effective mid-2025, Fortune Brands will transition to a new world-class campus in Deerfield,

Responsibilities:

Serve as the Finance partner supporting the leader of Distribution & Transportation, providing strategic financial insights and guidance.Report directly to the VP, Finance – Operations, contributing to the broader operational finance strategy and execution.Own the development and delivery of the Distribution & Transportation P&L, managing costs and ensuring return on investment.Lead the coordination and consolidation of annual budgets and strategic plans for Distribution & Transportation, aligning with broader operational goals.Oversee the implementation and ongoing oversight of inventory controls at distribution centers to ensure inventory accuracy, reduce shrink, and support operational effectiveness.Drive process efficiency and cost improvements across distribution operations, partnering with site leaders to identify and execute initiatives.Develop a deep understanding of logistics and transportation market trends to provide proactive, actionable insights that influence strategy and drive long-term value.Provide financial support in contract negotiations with third-party logistics providers and carriers, helping to structure cost-effective agreements and measure performance against service level agreements.Oversee the accuracy and optimization of freight and logistics spend, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and alignment with business objectives.Manage and improve reporting from third-party logistics providers and internal systems, delivering actionable insights to operational leadership.Ensure accuracy and timeliness of all transportation-related financial reporting, including freight accruals, carrier performance, and cost-to-serve analysis.Partner with the business intelligence team to enhance reporting capabilities, drive automation, and improve performance tracking.Support network optimization efforts, providing financial modeling and scenario analysis to guide strategic decisions.Partner with operations and IT to support the financial integration of new systems, technologies, or processes (e.g., WMS, TMS), ensuring accurate reporting and streamlined workflows.Support tariff analytics & mitigation efforts, supporting and informing various cross-functional teamsManage and mentor a team of Financial Analysts, prioritizing deliverables and supporting their professional development.Support additional projects and initiatives as assigned by the VP, Finance – Operations.

 

 

Qualifications

 

Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or related field required. Master’s degree preferred.7-10 years of experience in finance, accounting, or related field required. 10+ years of experience preferred.5+ years of management experience required.Must possess strong communication (oral and written) and analytical skills with ability to communicate detailed analysis into relevant, clear, and concise information leading to actionable initiatives.Strong understanding of P&L management, financial modeling, investment evaluation, and cost optimization strategies.Ability to influence others in a highly cross-functional and matrix environmentRequires strong leadership and management skills with experience managing and developing finance talent.Strong financial acumen, broad business skill set and strong strategic thinking capabilities.Process Improvement driven mindsetHighly articulate and can communicate effectively with various levels in an organization including senior leaders.Proficiency with Excel modeling and data management as well as PowerPointKnowledge of business intelligence tools (e.g., Tableau, Anaplan, Power BI) and financial modeling softwareExperience in tariff analysis & mitigation

Additional Information

Fortune Brands believes in fair and equitable pay. A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is Hiring Pay Range: $140,000 USD - $220,000 USD. Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range, or be above or below the range, based on factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, professional achievement, business need, and location. In addition to base salary, employees will participate in either an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance, or a role-based sales incentive plan.
