What is the opportunity?
As part of the Group Risk Management (GRM) Enterprise Issue Management Office, the Director, Enterprise Issues Management will be responsible for the ongoing evolution issue management methodology and for driving ongoing quality in the issue creation.
A recent multi-year bank-wide program established a new single EIM system. To ensure continued evolution of issues management a new team (EIM Office) is being established to:
Ensure ongoing evolution of Issues management methodology and toolingProvide ongoing training and support on new policy and standardDrive issue quality monitoring and controlProvide operational support for both system and issue reporting.Facilitate change prioritizationDesign of prioritized changes working closely with all stakeholdersDrive organization change management to all impacted stakeholdersWhat will you do?
Methodology: Responsible for the ongoing evolution of the Enterprise Issue Management Policy and Standard, ensuring these documents continue to drive effective and efficient risk management across all lines of defense, stay in line with industry best practices and meet the expectations of RBC’s major external regulators.Responsible for monitoring policy adherence, including the creation of analytics and escalating non-adherence through appropriate governance channels.Issue Management EducationDeliver targeted learning and communication across all lines of defense to support effective execution of requirements in Issue Management Policy and StandardProvide advisory support as required to address specific execution challengesIssue QualityResponsible for the development of robust issue quality monitoring that enables ongoing improvement across all lines of defense.Partner with the centralized team to create and evolve robust processes that ensure effective 2LOD quality monitoringCreate KPI’s to support outcome-based reporting on issue qualityIdentify opportunities to embed new technologies to drive issue quality including automation and AI.Based on thematic’ s analysis, create and deliver action plan to address any concerns, including targeted learning/communication or changes to methodologyWhat do you need to succeed?
Must-have
8-10 years of experience in progressively responsible roles in regulated industries with direct exposure to enterprise-wide mandates.Direct experience managing and remediating issues preferably across Risk, Compliance and Audit.Proven ability writing binding polices, standards and procedures with experience creating policy adherence monitoring to demonstrate policy/standard effectivenessExperience working with regulators and interpreting and implementing regulatory requirements.Ability to create engaging learning content and to deliver it through multi-media vehiclesExperience using technology to improve quality and process effectivenessAdvanced levels of Data-literacy and comfortable creating analytics and analyzing large data population to drive insightsExperience managing senior stakeholders with an ability to drive difficult changes through “impact and influence”Bachelor’s degree in related discipline or an equivalent amount of professional experienceNice-to-have
Previous experience working in Risk ManagementExperienced working across geographies and in a matrixed environment.Experience establishing or working in a Quality Control teamExperience in process design and monitoringWhat’s in it for you?
