**The Opportunity**
Our Diabetes Care division has a pipeline with products that are squarely focused on the consumer. With revenue of more than $5 billion in 2023, Abbott Diabetes Care is a global leader in providing life changing technology for the management and treatment of people living with chronic conditions including Diabetes. The Director, Data Enablement will lead the development and execution of a comprehensive three-year data strategy roadmap within Abbott Diabetes Care (ADC). ADC is responsible for implementing a robust data mesh architecture, maintaining and expanding the data catalog, and establishing a cross-functional data governance team. The goal is to drive data policy discoverability and customer experience improvements. This role will report to the DVP of Customer Experience and lead a team of data professionals to solve strategic questions that guide the development of innovative data solutions and measure their success in driving intended business outcomes.
This position will be based in Alameda, California.
**What You’ll Work On**
Develop and Execute Data Strategy Roadmap:
+ Lead the creation and implementation of a comprehensive three-year data strategy roadmap, ensuring it aligns with organizational goals and objectives.
+ Collaborate with stakeholders to identify key data initiatives and milestones.
+ Monitor progress and adjust the strategy as needed to meet evolving business needs.
Implement Data Mesh Architecture:
+ Oversee the design and deployment of a robust data mesh architecture to facilitate decentralized data ownership and management.
+ Ensure seamless integration of data sources and interoperability across various platforms.
+ Promote best practices for data sharing and governance within the organization.
Maintain and Expand Data Catalog:
+ Ensure the data catalog is up-to-date and comprehensive, providing a single source of truth for all data assets.
+ Implement processes for continuous improvement and expansion of the data catalog.
+ Train team members on the use and maintenance of the data catalog.
Establish Cross-Functional Data Governance Team:
+ Lead a cross-functional team to oversee data governance, ensuring compliance with data management policies and procedures.
+ Develop and enforce policies and procedures for data management and usage.
+ Facilitate regular meetings and workshops to address data governance issues and promote collaboration.
Assess AI and New Data Use Cases:
+ Evaluate and prioritize AI and new data use cases to drive innovation and policy discoverability.
+ Conduct feasibility studies and pilot projects to assess the potential impact of new technologies.
+ Collaborate with business units to identify opportunities for leveraging AI and advanced analytics.
Improve Customer Experience:
+ Utilize data insights to enhance customer experience by identifying trends and areas for improvement.
+ Implement strategies to leverage data for customer-centric improvements, such as personalized marketing and targeted support.
+ Measure the impact of data-driven initiatives on customer satisfaction and loyalty.
**Qualifications**
+ Bachelor's degree required in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. Advanced degree such as MBA a plus.
+ Minimum 10-15 years of experience required in data strategy, governance, and analytics.
+ Deep understanding of data mesh architecture and data catalog management.
+ Strong hands-on experience with AI and data analytics.
+ Excellent skills in programming languages such as SQL and Python.
+ Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, including Glue, S3, EMR, Lambda, Athena, RDS.
+ Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
+ Ability to distill complex data findings into actionable recommendations.
+ Excellent communication skills in English; proficiency in a second language preferred but not required.
+ Ability to collaborate effectively with global stakeholders across multiple time zones.
+ Proven people management skills with a passion for building high-performing teams in a matrix working environment.

The base pay for this position is $193,300.00 – $386,700.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
