Job Summary

The Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations is the primary contact between a set of assigned University units and a portfolio of assigned Foundation entities, including regional funders in the state, with a focus on those in the southeast MI region and Detroit. You will lead efforts to support faculty engagement of, these foundations. The core responsibility will be to generate philanthropic support from the professional foundation community. You will also be responsible for Corporate and Foundation Relations support of the following schools: Social Work, Public Health and Education. Other areas will be assigned, based on university priorities.

You will provide strategic management of foundation relationships, including identification, qualification, cultivation, and outreach/stewardship support, and is the main contact for inquiries from these donors and prospects. You will also facilitate connections to faculty expertise for philanthropic grants, helps track foundation competitions and requests for proposals, and will pursue funding opportunities that support the university's initiatives and priorities.

You will encourage and facilitate collaboration with the University of Michigan's Offices of Research and Sponsored Projects, the UM Medical School Office of Research, and departmental grants administrators, faculty, and staff.

Foundation Relations Fundraising and Outreach ? 75%

This process may also include virtual visits.Maintain knowledge of university faculty and research interests

Foundation Relations and support of Faculty Awards - 15%

Be an institutional contact for select foundations, as determined by the Senior Executive DirectorWork in close collaboration with other CFR colleagues and the Office of the Vice President for Research (OVPR) to support faculty outreach and support of limited submission competitionsSupport the creation and implementation of faculty information sessions, in collaboration with important partners at OVPR and units.

Administrative - 10%

Monthly reporting on activitiesWith administrative support, track interactions and log into the DART, the Office of Development's donor databaseWith administrative support, submit travel and expense reportsRequired Qualifications*Bachelor's degree required.4+ years of cumulative experience working in a corporate and foundation relations fundraising environment.Strong verbal and written skillsFlexibility to meet changing priorities, and engage with a wide variety of peopleStrong computing and technical skills, including familiarity with cloud-based tools, spreadsheets, databases, data visualization tools, and other applicationsModes of Work
