Job Title: DIRECTOR, COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT AND OUTREACH

Job Location(s): US - Atlanta, GA

JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a visionary, strategic, and entrepreneurial Director of Community Engagement & Outreach Relations to design and lead a bold new movement to connect Americans with key CARE programs around the world. This role will drive national engagement strategies that inspire grassroots support, mobilize action, and deliver meaningful global impact. We’re on a mission to develop a Community of CARE connected by compassion and global solidarity.

Reporting to the Chief Marketing Officer, the Director of Community Engagement and Outreach Relations will be responsible for two key community and volunteer engagements programs: The CARE Women’s Network (CWN), and our iconic CARE Package program designed to unite people to communities in crisis and beyond.

This position is open anywhere in the US remotely where CARE operates, or hybrid in DC, NYC and Atlanta.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead National Community Building Efforts

Develop from the ground up a comprehensive community engagement strategy that aligns with the organization’s mission, goals, and values centering CARE’s iconic CARE Package. Develop and implement a U.S. focused community engagement strategy: Assess and build the potential for a growing base of active U.S. partners, donors, volunteers, and advocates who are passionate about international solidarity and community-led development. Develop and cultivate meaningful opportunities for U.S. participants to connect with the women leading change abroad—through virtual engagements, learning journeys, and collaborative project updates.

Manage Campaigns & Community Movements

Lead multi-channel outreach campaigns that educate and inspire community participation, volunteerism and investment around key initiatives —leveraging stories of impact from partner countries to engage American audiences emotionally and practically. Serve as the primary liaison between the organization and volunteer leaders like CARE Women’s Network to providing ongoing support, communication and drive successful campaigns and events that support our mission. Plan, coordinate, and oversee all community-facing events and volunteer-led outreach efforts to ensure consistent messaging, strong attendance, and meaningful impact. Develop culturally relevant materials and messaging strategies tailored to diverse community audiences.

Collaboration & Execution

Work closely with CARE country offices, program teams, advocacy, marketing and communications, and development teams to ensure coherence, alignment, and impact across all engagement activities. Build and maintain strong, strategic relationships with community partners, local organizations, donors, volunteers, and civic leaders to expand organizational reach and impact. Represent the organization at community events and public forums to increase visibility and foster goodwill. Identify and cultivate new opportunities for partnerships, joint programming, and collaborative donor opportunities with community stakeholders. Develop a budget and implementation plan for all program activities. Establish clear goals and KPIs to track success, improve strategy, and demonstrate meaningful impact to stakeholders and participants. Develop executive reports about the status of ongoing projects and campaigns to ensure they are progressing according to schedule and desired results.
