The Director for Clinical Research Vision Care will be located in Johns Creek, GA and will be responsible for managing a team of Principals and Sr Principals Clinical Research Associates in the areas of new Contact Lenses Biomaterials and Solutions.
This role is part of Alcon's Project Management function, a team that ensures all regular and one-off projects are planned, organized, and executed effectively to help our people and the world see brilliantly. The Director, Clinical Project Management is primarily responsible for leading strategic and operational planning and management of assigned clinical programs, ensuring budget oversight, resource allocation, and operational excellence. You will guide and manage others to achieve goals.
This role will be responsible for planning, directing, creating, and communicating clinical study timelines, ensuring consistency of clinical study and processes across clinical trials, overseeing and resolving their operational aspects in line with standard operating procedures (SOP), good clinical practice (GCP) and specific country regulations such as site and vendor selection. Prepares clinical development strategy and manages clinical trial budgets, ensuring studies are conducted within clinical trial protocols.
On a typical day your role may include:
Provide strategic leadership and oversight for planning, execution, and management of global clinical programs, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence
Lead cross-functional teams in designing and implementing clinical research strategies, driving successful execution of Phase I–III clinical trials
Oversee budgetary planning, resource allocation, and risk mitigation strategies to optimize program efficiency and ensure timely delivery of study milestones
Build and maintain strong relationships with key opinion leaders, regulatory agencies, and internal partners to enhance clinical development strategies and trial execution
Ensure adherence to quality and compliance standards while fostering innovation in clinical trial methodologies
Lead a team of clinical project managers and cross-functional professionals, fostering a culture of excellence by leading performance management, driving talent development, ensuring positive employee relations, and enhancing employee engagement and recognition
Develop and implement process improvements, tapping into industry best practices and emerging technologies to enhance clinical trial efficiency and effectiveness
Serve as a key liaison between clinical operations, regulatory affairs, and commercial teams, ensuring clinical strategies align with business objectives and market needs
Provide oversight for post-marketing studies, safety evaluations, and medical/scientific consultations, ensuring clinical research programs generate high-quality data to support regulatory submissions and product approvals
Lead global initiatives related to process optimization, training, and standard operating procedure development, contributing to the continuous improvement of clinical operations
Drive operational excellence through knowledge sharing, strategic problem-solving, and proactive risk management to ensure successful execution of clinical programs in a dynamic and highly regulated environment
WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO ALCON:
Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +18 yrs; Assoc.+14 yrs; M.S.+7 yrs; PhD+6 yrs)
The ability to fluently read, write, understand, and communicate in English
