Job Description:

Role Summary

We are on an exciting journey to transform the Advisor experience that increases ease of doing business, productivity and Client engagement.  Reporting to the AVP Business Architecture & Platforms, the Director Business Architecture & Innovation will be responsible for leading and maturing the Business Architecture practice to support RA&S.

You have a passion in working at the intersection of business and technology. You will get the opportunity to collaborate with cross functional teams and take a user-centric approach to generate deep insights and deliver with excellence.

What will you do?

Evolve target business architecture by determining capabilities to enable business strategy and advisor journeys

Own and maintain business capabilities inventory and ensure it is evergreen as business strategy, user journeys and business capabilities evolve

Be a partner and advise delivery teams on solution design to align with target business architecture

Pioneer and experiment with emerging technology (ie. Generative AI, automation, cloud technologies, etc.) to introduce innovative capabilities that will unlock new opportunities

Own and drive the GenAI pipeline of Advisor use cases from ideation to implementation

Evaluate existing capabilities and document alignment to SLFD medium-term strategy

Sequence the build out of the capabilities and create a 3-year outlook capability roadmap

Support the strategic and annual planning process by identifying a prioritized list of RA&S’ key initiatives

Work with internal partners across the organization to understand and recommend where common business capabilities can be leveraged to drive Sun Life’s One Sun vision

Build consensus with partners to define a shared vision of what needs to be built and championing this vision from concept, through planning, to implementation 

What do you need to succeed?

Execution experience: Proven track record of implementation experience in sales, distribution technology or financial services technology systems and platforms

Business architecture and process optimization: Experience in continuous process improvement, process automation and business architecture

Data-driven and business acumen: Ability to identify and quantify business drivers and value of digital capabilities that connect back to the overall business strategy

Creativity and problem solving: Ability to solve problems within constraints effectively by balancing various lenses business, operations, design and technology

Stakeholder management: Ability to navigate field leaders and internal partners, driving strong positive influence to engender support towards target actions and outcomes

Executive communication: Effectively communicate key insights, ideas and strategies, to an executive level audience in a clear, compelling and concise manner

Collaboration and teamwork: Proven ability to influence, collaborate, and manage relationships to establish effective partnerships

Industry experience: Minimum of 7 years relevant business experience, ideally within insurance, wealth management and / or other financial services

As this position is posted in several locations, we specify that bilingualism (French, English, both oral and written) is required for Quebec only for the frequent interactions with English and French-speaking colleagues or internal partners across Canada or worldwide.

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
