Director, Behring Communications, ABCIA

The Opportunity:

Reporting to the Head, Behring Communications, as the Director, Behring Communications, ABCIA (Market Access, Business Excellence & Commercial Development, and Insights & Analytics), you will hold a global leadership role and be accountable for shaping and executing strategic communications that support CSL Behring’s business objectives. This includes external, leadership and employee communications, issues and crisis management, and other functional communications supporting the CSL Behring (CSLB) business's objectives. Additionally, you will will serve as the primary communications business partner and strategic counselor to the ABCIA organizations. You will hold an agile and matrixed role that will require your proactivity, strategic thinking, ability to pivot on priorities and significant collaboration across functions and within the Corporate & External Affairs (CEA) organization. You will serve as both strategist and executor by developing clear strategies and measurable execution plans and working with a matrix team for planning and execution. You will develop and deliver “earned” media and thought leadership placements globally and you will ensure continuous content contributions by team members in specific areas of responsibilities for CSL’s “owned” multimedia publishing channels (i.e., Vita news hub, CSL News, CSL NOW employee app) for both internal and external stakeholders/audiences.

This is a hybrid role, which offers a combination of an onsite and remote work schedule.  #LI-hybrid

The Role:

Leads Global Communication Strategy for Plasma-Derived Therapies (PDTs)

Develops and executes a proactive, enterprise-aligned communications strategy that articulates the value of PDTs and supports broader business objectives  Collaborates across key stakeholders in Plasma and CEA to develop and execute a proactive communications strategy in support of the value of PDTs and other enterprise goals.Owns and evolves the overarching narrative and messaging framework for PDTs.Identifies key engagement opportunities for senior leaders and provides strategic counsel and preparation.Provides hands-on external communications support to Plasma centers and leaders, as needed.

Leads issues & crisis management for the CSL Behring organization

Leads the development and maintenance of a centralized Issues Repository to ensure consistent messaging across the organization.Partners with CEA and senior leadership to design and implement a comprehensive issues and crisis communications framework.Serves as a primary spokesperson for US/EU issues and potential crises.Proactively anticipates reputational risks and prepares mitigation strategies.Identifies and prepares senior leader spokespeople, as appropriate.Demonstrates agility and accessibility during high-pressure situations.

Leads policy communications across the Behring organization

Works closely with key stakeholders in CEA to translate complex policy issues into clear and concise messaging for external stakeholders.Partners with Corporate Affairs, Investor Relations and Media Relations to ensure a unified and strategic approach.

Strategic Communication’s Partner to the Head of ABCIA

Serve as the key communications business partner for the Head of ABCIA and leadership team.Leads the development and execution of communications strategies that support ABCIA’s business priorities and enterprise-wide goals.

Leads and supports global Behring communications initiatives.

Manages third-party communications agencies in support of Behring and ABCIA business objectives. 

Demonstrates ability to influence others, while fostering strong working relationships. Demonstrates ability to be effective in a highly matrixed organization.

Your Skills & Abilities:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or closely related field; MBA or Master’s in Communications a plus.10+ years' communications experience including communications program/people management, in product or corporate communications/ public relations.5+ years’ experience managing media.Pharma/Biotech or similarly regulated environment experience desirable.Advanced, progressive professional development training is ideal. Applied Science communications experience of 10+ years is highly desirable.3+ years' digital communications experience is preferred.Demonstrated experience in successfully working in a highly matrixed organization is a plus.

Travel Requirements:

Domestic and International travel may be required from time to time.
