Director, Asia Distribution Risk & Control

The Director, Asia Distribution Risk & Control (a.k.a. Distribution Line 1B), will report to the Regional Head of Asia Distribution Risk & Control and support the execution of the Distribution Quality Operating Model (DQOM). The DQOM aims to execute Asia’s Sales Conduct Framework to develop, implement and monitor the sales quality controls in the sales distribution channels for the Life insurance business in the market. The objective is to ensure that the key distribution related risks are properly identified, assessed and managed/governed.
**Position Responsibilities:**
Leadership
+ Lead by matrix and develop the Business Unit Distribution Line 1B teams and processes
+ Promote and drive a strong risk management culture within the local Distribution (L1A and L1B) teams
Governance/Reporting
+ Evaluate current and identify emerging distribution risks facing the business in BU’s across Asia and ensure that controls are properly focused
+ Oversee the governance process for escalation of material risks from BU's
+ Monitor Distribution Quality by reviewing the trends and action plans mitigating distribution risks from the DistQ Indices & DistQAR submitted by BU monthly and quarterly
+ Secretariat of the Asia Distribution & Sales Risk Committee to provide senior management with oversight of the Distribution risks, status of remediation actions and initiatives.
+ Report key Distribution risks and action plans/initiatives to Emerging Market Risk Review and Asia Risk Committee.
+ Collaborate with Asia Line 2 Risk Management & Compliance to drive the continuous improvement & implementation of the risk management framework/internal & external compliance requirements, methodology, tools, CAP closures and reporting.
+ Respond to Asia Line 3 Audit Services and Line 2 Compliance’s findings and assist/objectively challenge L1A in the remediation plans and ensure timely closure for Asia Distribution CAP's
+ Perform deep dive analysis on the result of Welcome calls, Mystery Shopping and/or other Group/Regional initiatives and coordinate with Risk, Compliance and Distribution team to develop actionable plan to improve the sales quality.
Data Analytics
+ Support the scoping, roll-out, adoption and continuous improvement of data-driven analytics tools across Asia such as Distributor Conduct Compliance Dashboard, Neo4j, Propensity to Lapse predictive models, etc., to proactively prevent and manage sales misconduct risks
+ Perform trend analysis / irregular sales activities monitoring from distributor conduct analytics like DistQ Indices, DCCD, Neo4j, Welcome Calls. Mystery Shopping, etc., across Asia to monitor BU’s sales quality or adverse sales behaviour
Control Review
+ Assist BU’s Distribution units to perform Risk Controls Self-assessment (RCSA) and Fraud Risk Control Assessment.
+ Design and perform controls testing plan to ensure the control design is operating effectively and able to mitigate the risks.
**Required Qualifications:**
+ With minimally 5-10 years of work experience in a distribution/ operations/ L1B role within the life insurance industry
+ Who possess a passion towards governance and risk, having actual experience impacting from a risk/governance area in the current/ previous functions you’ve worked in
+ With applied analytical skills in projects you have participated/led in
+ Who is comfortable in a hands-on role and loves working in a dynamic, lean team
+ With excellent written and verbal communication skills
+ Who is great at building relationships as this is a role which has high levels of interactions with people in our organization, across all our offices in Asia
+ Who is comfortable with moderate travelling within Asia
