This Director will drive results through a team of experienced consultants who coach and develop leaders of financial advisor teams in key areas such as practice management, advisor teaming, and succession and continuity planning. Their expertise in financial services, leadership development, team dynamics, and strategies for productivity and succession is critical to equipping individual financial advisors and teams with the skills and confidence to deliver exceptional client service and purposeful advice. By focusing on expanding capacity, improving advisor productivity, retaining both advisors and clients, and driving accelerated total sales growth, this role ensures that advisors can effectively lead high-performing teams and achieve organizational goals.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead, deploy and execute on strategic initiatives in advisor teaming, succession and continuity planning, and practice management to drive capacity, productivity, and total sales growth through the Advisor Practice Coaching team.
Partner with the Director of Advisor Practice Strategies and Programs to build, drive and co-own the strategy for teaming and succession across the enterprise/advisor ecosystem. This includes partnering with stakeholders to deliver advanced team capabilities, such as entity, team agreements, program management, team recognition, team compensation, Revenue Sharing Agreements, and any future capabilities for teams.
Builds and executes on a strategy to equip our field leadership to hire into teams and grow future team leaders to consistently deliver exceptional client service, provide purposeful advice, lead high-performing teams and meet organizational goals.
Develop and mentor a team of coaching consultants, setting goals, KPIs, and accountability measures to drive performance and ensure alignment with enterprise objectives.
Develop, refine, and lead scalable processes for advisor coaching and consulting to enhance team effectiveness, ensuring consistent execution of teaming, succession, continuity, and practice management initiatives across the organization.
Stay informed on industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices to continually enhance advisor development and business performance. Identify and integrate new opportunities into the company’s growth strategy to elevate coaching and consulting services.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders, cross functional and external partners to align with organizational goals and maintain high standards of service for financial advisors and teams. Provide strategic consulting on business development, teaming, and succession/continuity strategies, and offer guidance on continuity strategies to ensure long-term client and business stability.
Manage team budgets to support strategic objectives while ensuring fiscal responsibility and effective resource allocation.

This role will interact with a broad spectrum of stakeholders, including Thrivent Advisors, their teams, and staff, as well as field leadership at all levels. Additionally, the Director will engage with the Executive Leadership Team (ELT), Senior Vice Presidents (SVPs), Vice Presidents (VPs), and Director-level leaders across the organization. The Director will have significant influence, collaborating with matrixed partners, managing and influencing cross-functional relationships, and ensuring alignment with enterprise business objectives. This high level of interaction and influence will be crucial in driving strategic initiatives, shaping practice management, and achieving company-wide goals.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in business, management, finance, or a related field.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in financial services, with a focus on coaching advisors and teams, team leadership, and strategic planning.
Strategic leadership skills along with strong influence and collaboration, experience presenting to large groups of people, including executives.
Demonstrated success in leading high-performing teams and cultivating leadership skills in others through mentoring and development.
Deep subject matter expertise in teaming, practice management, and succession and continuity planning, with the ability to influence and consult to advance advisor and team practices.
Strong knowledge of financial products, services, and industry regulations.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
Ability to inspire and motivate individuals and teams to achieve their full potential.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
Ability to travel as needed, up to 25%.
Preferred/Ideal:
Professional coaching certification highly recommended.
Experience leading enterprise-level strategies.
Experience presenting in high-stakes, executive level meetings.
