Job Summary:

The Director of Adult Acute Care Services provides strategic and operational leadership for adult acute behavioral health and substance use treatment programs, including the Crisis Center, Withdrawal Management Services, and Adult Recovery Residential programs. This position ensures the delivery of trauma-informed, person-centered care aligned with evidence-based practices, regulatory standards. The Director supervises interdisciplinary teams, drives quality improvement, and fosters collaboration to improve outcomes and access for individuals in crisis.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide leadership in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of adult acute care services.Ensure service delivery reflects trauma-informed, person-centered, culturally competent, and recovery-oriented practices.Maintain compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations and organizational policies.Supervise and develop interdisciplinary teams, including clinical, medical, and support staff.Promote a positive work environment that supports collaboration, professional growth, and high standards of clinical excellence.Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and use data to evaluate service effectiveness, guide operational decisions, and lead quality improvement initiatives.Partner with internal departments (e.g., compliance, finance, human resources) to support organizational goals and staff needs.Serve as a liaison to external stakeholders, including hospitals, law enforcement, community agencies, and referral sources, to promote access, coordination, and continuity of care.Participate in strategic planning, budgeting, and resource management to ensure program sustainability.Respond to audits, licensing reviews, and accreditation processes; lead corrective action planning as needed.Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Strong understanding of trauma-informed care, crisis stabilization models, and withdrawal management best practices.

Experience and/or Education Qualifications:

Education: Master’s degree in psychology, social work, counseling, public health, or related behavioral health field required.Licensure/Certification: Clinical licensure (e.g., LPC, LCSW, LMFT) preferred; state requirements must be met for applicable clinical oversight.5 years of progressive leadership experience in behavioral health, crisis services, or substance use treatment.

Supervisory Requirements: 

Communicate the strategic direction of the organization and encourage participation by all employees.Provide leadership and guidance to all aspects of the department.Take an active role in monitoring the identification, development, and execution of strategic objectives.Involve, as appropriate, all employees to achieve their goals.Effectively communicate to employees about any changes and newsworthy events within the department or company.Manage difficult employee situations directly, using appropriate discretion and Human Resource advice to show respect for the individual.Champion changes and effectively manages the implementation of innovative ideas.Reinforce team approach throughout functions; support and solicit input from team members at all levels within the company.

Employment Requirements:

Successful completion of background check including criminal record, driving record, abuse/neglect, and fingerprint check.Completion of New Hire Orientation at the beginning of employment.All training requirements including Relias at the beginning of employment and annually thereafter.Current driver’s license, acceptable driving record and current auto insurance.

Physical Requirements:

ADA Consideration - Sedentary work:  Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally (exists up the 1/3 of the time) and/or a negligible amount of force frequently (exists 1/3 to 2/3 of the time) to lift, carry, push, or pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body.  Repetitive movements of hands, fingers, and arms for typing and/or writing during work shift. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
