The Position

Organon Canada Medical Director (CMD) is a Senior Medical Leader for Organon. (S)he will be the primary country contact for the local Medical Affairs organization and oversees Field Medical and Medical Services teams in the country as well.

Responsibilities

Supporting strategic planning and medical support of Company objectives

Strategic planning and support of structured and consistent Continuous Medical Education (CME) activities

Building close relationships with local Regulatory Agency.

Build a strong network with the country LT, including but not limited to commercial functional leaders.

Provide balanced support to commercial functions, maintaining focus on key priorities

Examining and coordinating the team’s activities to guarantee medical quality.

Assisting with training, continuing education, and promotion of subordinate staff.

Managing budget.

Liaising with medical and non-medical departments and enhancing relationships with vendors.

Promote the updating and/or amending and/or replacing SOPs with the advice of the BPM.

Developing cooperation between key stakeholders and the medical department.

Keeping medical knowledge up to standards within the medical team.

Ensure the Medical Affairs team focuses on local Organon Medical strategy, with a heavy emphasis to help developing Global Medical strategy

Providing input into study feasibility and sites selection and implementing publication policy

Providing medical and scientific advice to business units, Market Access functions and others as required, including input into Health Economics

Managing the country-developed Protocol Concept Sheets (PCS) and obtaining regional and global approvals for new local studies

Reviewing and approving local study protocols and IISPs

Advising business units on medical and scientific matters, including but not limited to scientific approval of promotional materials

Establish, manage and maintain a functional DPOC setup.

Required Education, Experience, and Skills  

MD, PhD in health sciences, PharmD or equivalent

5+ years experience in global biopharmaceutical industry in Clinical Development and/or Medical Affairs

People management experience running an organization of healthcare professionals

Ability to plan a medium-long term vision of the medical organization priorities

Be able to prioritize actions according to the strategy, including quick wins and medium-long term activities.

Routine analysis of the major KPI´s

Proper follow-up of the budget

Able to identify data gaps that could be transformed into clinical evidence

Be a major player during the EC, given the medical point of view to the different issues that could be analyzed

External leadership - be able to promote the development of medical activities related with scientific exchange, medical societies, KDMs

Ability to give a specific short-mid-long-term vision to the medical department

Ability to create a team spirit with no discrimination of any type

Le Directeur Médical d’Organon Canada (CMD) est un leader médical senior au sein de l’organisation. Il/elle est le principal interlocuteur du pays pour les Affaires Médicales locales et supervise les équipes Médicales Terrain ainsi que les Services Médicaux au niveau national.

Responsabilités

Soutenir la planification stratégique et l’appui médical aux objectifs de l’entreprise.

Planifier et soutenir des activités de Formation Médicale Continue (FMC) structurées et cohérentes.

Établir des relations étroites avec les autorités réglementaires locales.

Développer un réseau solide avec l’équipe de direction locale, incluant les responsables des fonctions commerciales.

Fournir un soutien équilibré aux fonctions commerciales tout en maintenant le cap sur les priorités clés.

Superviser et coordonner les activités de l’équipe afin de garantir la qualité médicale.

Contribuer à la formation, au développement professionnel continu et à la promotion du personnel subalterne.

Gérer le budget du département médical.

Assurer la liaison avec les départements médicaux et non médicaux, et renforcer les relations avec les fournisseurs.

Promouvoir la mise à jour, la modification ou le remplacement des SOPs en collaboration avec le BPM.

Développer la coopération entre les parties prenantes clés et le département médical.

Maintenir un haut niveau de connaissances médicales au sein de l’équipe médicale.

Veiller à ce que l’équipe des Affaires Médicales se concentre sur la stratégie médicale locale d’Organon, tout en contribuant au développement de la stratégie médicale globale.

Fournir des avis médicaux et scientifiques aux unités commerciales, aux fonctions d’accès au marché et autres, y compris en matière d’économie de la santé.

Participer à l’évaluation de la faisabilité des études, à la sélection des sites et à la mise en œuvre de la politique de publication.

Gérer les Protocol Concept Sheets (PCS) développés localement et obtenir les approbations régionales et globales pour les nouvelles études locales.

Examiner et approuver les protocoles d’études locales et les propositions d’études initiées par les investigateurs (IISP).

Conseiller les unités commerciales sur les questions médicales et scientifiques, y compris l’approbation scientifique des supports promotionnels.

Établir, gérer et maintenir une structure fonctionnelle de DPOC.

Formation, Expérience et Compétences Requises

Diplôme de médecine (MD), doctorat en sciences de la santé (PhD), PharmD ou équivalent.

Minimum de 5 ans d’expérience dans l’industrie biopharmaceutique mondiale, en développement clinique et/ou en affaires médicales.

Expérience en gestion d’équipes de professionnels de santé.

Capacité à définir une vision stratégique à moyen et long terme pour les priorités médicales.

Capacité à hiérarchiser les actions selon la stratégie, incluant des gains rapides et des activités à moyen/long terme.

Analyse régulière des principaux indicateurs de performance (KPI).

Suivi rigoureux du budget.

Capacité à identifier les lacunes de données pouvant être transformées en preuves cliniques.

Être un acteur clé au sein du comité exécutif, en apportant une perspective médicale aux enjeux analysés.

Leadership externe : promouvoir le développement d’activités médicales liées aux échanges scientifiques, aux sociétés médicales et aux leaders d’opinion (KDM).

Capacité à donner une vision claire à court, moyen et long terme au département médical.

Capacité à instaurer un esprit d’équipe sans aucune forme de discrimination.
