Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and analytical Buyer to join our Tactical Direct Procurement team. This role involves full-cycle purchasing, root-cause analysis using the 5-Whys methodology, and cross-functional coordination to ensure supply continuity and cost efficiency.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in SAP, experience managing supplier relationships, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. This is an on-site position based in Lenexa, KS, with potential to convert to a full-time permanent role.
Key Responsibilities
+ Manage a portfolio of suppliers from PO placement through delivery and payment.
+ Conduct root cause analysis (5-Whys) to resolve and prevent supply issues.
+ Execute RFPs, negotiate contracts, and perform cost analysis.
+ Maintain procurement standards and operational plans in alignment with internal policies.
+ Schedule and expedite deliveries; address shortages, delays, and vendor issues.
+ Respond to supplier inquiries regarding order status, changes, or cancellations.
+ Use SAP and procurement tools to identify trends, supplier risks, and forecast gaps.
+ Collaborate with planners and stakeholders to resolve critical supply chain issues.
+ Ensure product delivery meets cost, quality, and timing standards.
+ Monitor supplier and contract performance for compliance.
+ Participate in other procurement-related tasks and projects as assigned.
Requirements
Qualifications
Required:
+ Minimum 6 years of supply chain or procurement experience.
+ At least 2 years of advanced SAP experience (not entry-level).
+ Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering, or related field (preferred).
+ Ability to analyze issues, identify root causes, and implement permanent solutions.
+ Strong communication and organizational skills; ability to manage multiple priorities.
+ Must be a U.S. citizen.
Preferred:
+ Familiarity with BI reporting and Tableau.
+ Experience in strategic sourcing, expediting, purchasing, and supplier performance management.
+ Prior experience in regulated or technical industries is a plus.

+ Overtime: Possible but voluntary
+ Contract Duration: Initial 6-month contract, with potential to extend up to 12 months or convert to a full-time role
