Major Responsibilities:Develops, plans, and implements objectives, goals for the MHEC. Represents MHEC in the communities to oversee community wide initiatives including collaborative efforts to reduce avoidable ED utilization that connect patients to resources in the community.Maintains the optimal quality/cost balance maximizing customer satisfaction and quality outcomes. Establishes appropriate benchmarks for quality and service. Monitors and evaluates processes and takes action to correct problems as identified and ensure consistency across identified organizations.Promotes communication among patients, families, hospital departments, and medical staff to optimize the interdependence of all team members.Engages with multiple disciplines to resolve complex operational/organizational issues that impact mental health emergency services.Develops and implements long and short-range planning tools for process improvement. Works closely with leadership, finance, and other departments to develop tools that impact the operational goals.Collaborates with leaders and staff to introduce and establish methods for continuous improvement and best practice. Assists in identification and coordination of projects associated with continuous improvement of daily operations, productivity, reduction of costs and increased revenues while maintaining and increasing quality, safety, and service.Interprets and complies with all federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and standards as they relate to nursing and/or emergency mental health services.Identifies and directs the allocation of resources to meet financial goals. Recommends and institutes measures that result in greater cost effectiveness and efficiency in operations while ensuring high quality patient care.Represents leadership on system committees and system programs and participates in strategic system projects. Coordinate’s problem resolution and solution implementation for areas of responsibility.Develops, implements, and maintains department policies, procedures, and processes. Enforces departmental policies (clinical, safety, compliance, HR) and procedures for staff and patients. Ensures operations meets all local, state, and federal compliance and accreditation standards, guidelines, and practices.Performs human resources responsibilities for staff which include interviewing and selection of new employees, promotions, staff development, performance evaluations, compensation changes, resolution of employee concerns, corrective actions, terminations, and overall employee morale.Develops and recommends operating and capital budgets and controls expenditures within approved budget objectives.Responsible for understanding and adhering to the organization's Code of Ethical Conduct and for ensuring that personal actions, and the actions of employees supervised, comply with the policies, regulations and laws applicable to the organization's business.
Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the team member practices.
Education Required:Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, or Bachelor's Degree in Health Care Administration or related field.
Experience Required:Typically requires 5 years of experience in nursing. Includes 2 years of management experience in managing large, complex emergency departments.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:Advanced clinical and technical knowledge of the Emergency Department.Strong business focus for business plan development, goal planning and execution, financial and business acumen, conflict resolution and problem solving.Excellent leadership skills including project management, process improvement, decision making, prioritization, delegation, team building, customer service, and conflict resolution.Demonstrated ability to work effectively with all levels of management and administration.Must process strong analytical skills and the ability to present analysis effectively. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.Proficiency using Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint), or similar products.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:Must be able to operate all equipment essential in performing the job.May be exposed to hazardous conditions and thus must wear protective clothing as needed.Working atmosphere may contain fumes and odors.Must be able to walk the majority of the workday.Must have functional speech, vision, smell, and hearing.
