Description of Job Description of Job: This is a full-time, in-person, essential services and m ust be able to work 6:00 a.m. - 6:30 p.m. with every other weekend off. May be required to work varied shifts and days of the week to include holidays and weekends as needed to meet facility needs. This position functions independently in performing a full range of responsibilities that include but are not limited to serving residents, cleaning sanitation, and related tasks. This includes following the generally accepted and facility food service standards. This position performs a variety of heavy manual labor food service duties, including but not limited to cleaning and sanitizing the kitchen, the kitchen equipment, utensils, dishes, pots, and pans, as well as assisting cooks when necessary. It requires lifting, manual labor, and long periods of standing and walking. Primary Duties include: Cleaning and Sanitation: + Cleans dining room, Cleans tables and chairs and sanitizes, washes dishes, silverware, and puts them away. + Keeps kitchen neat clean and orderly during shift. + Maintains all kitchen equipment according to set guidelines. + Follows kitchen and cleaning checklist. + Cleans equipment after use. + Cleans kitchen and floors at end of shift. + Washes and sanitizes pots and pans, Collects and disposes of trash. Food Handling and Service: + Serves food on plates in an aesthetically appealing manner. + Follows the therapeutic worksheets for correct portion sizes and texture. + Serves regular and modified diets to residents using proper procedures and tray cards. + Fills and delivers special orders to meet resident requests. + Prepares salads. + Purees menu items to appropriate texture. + Plates and serves desserts. + Communicates resident feedback, regarding likes and dislikes to supervisor. + Assist cook with meal preparation. + Prepares items on grill and deep fryer. + Follows standardized recipes. + Verify what items need to be prepped and pulled for the next two days and store them properly Food temperature and Temperature Standards: + Monitors all food temperatures and records on proper form. + Delivers foods as required to proper units. + Notifies supervisor any time foods are not at proper serving temperature so problem can be corrected immediately. + Monitors temperatures of refrigerators and maintains daily record. + Checks all left over foods in refrigerators for expiration dates. Dining Room Service: + Provide service and assistance in the dining room as needed taking orders, providing drinks and delivering plates, serving dessert, salads as well as being available to meet resident requests. Education: + Attend scheduled in-services, trainings and meetings. + Train new employees on the functions of the job. + Provide feedback to the Food Service Manager on proficiency of new employee Other Duties as Assigned Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights Experience Only: One (1) year of relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned to this position Substitutions: There are no substitutions for the minimum qualifications. Preferred qualification: + Possession of Food Certification(s) + Customer Service or front of house experience in the food service industry + Experience working in a long-term care environment + Ability to work effectively as a team member + Detail-Oriented Conditions of Employment: + CDHS employees (all Direct contact with vulnerable persons): CBI name check and fingerprint check, ICON Colorado court database, Medicare fraud database, Reference Checks, Professional License verification (licensure requirements), Drug Screen, PREA (Division of Youth Services), Trails check (direct contact with children), CAPS (direct contact with adults – Mental Health Institutes, Regional Centers, Veterans Community Living Centers) + Shift work: evenings, weekends, holidays, split shifts + Travel: Trainings and may be required to travel in state vehicles with leadership + Former State employees who were disciplinarily terminated or resigned in lieu of termination must disclose the information on the application and provide an explanation why the prior termination or resignation should not disqualify the applicant from the current position.
