Digital Technology Organization Rotational Program - Engineer Position

Job Overview Pennymac’s Digital Technology Organization (DTO) Rotational Program - Engineer Position is designed to provide recent graduates with a more comprehensive understanding of our company’s technical landscape. You will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects across different teams, gaining valuable hands-on experience and building your skillset. This rotational program is a launchpad for a successful career in software engineering, offering mentorship, training, and exposure to latest technologies. The program has openings for Rotational Engineers to join our incoming cohorts for January or June 2026. Given the immersive and rotational nature of the program, engineers will be able to gain deep understanding of individual product teams and the company as a whole while building relationships amongst peer groups and existing Pennymac leadership. A Typical Day The DTO Rotational Engineers will: + Engineering: Participate in rotations across various software engineering teams, contributing to projects in various sub-domains including, analyzing user needs and requirements, designing and developing software, testing and debugging, and documenting code and processes + Collaborate: Work closely with experienced engineers, and other stakeholders to understand requirements, design solutions, and deliver high-quality code. Work effectively inside a Scrum or Kanban team + Problem-Solve: Analyze complex problems, develop innovative solutions, and contribute to the team's success + Communicate: Effectively communicate your ideas, progress, and findings to both technical and non-technical audiences + Innovate: Stay abreast of the latest technologies and industry trends, and bring fresh perspectives to your work + Perform other related duties as required and assigned + Demonstrate behaviors which are aligned with the organization’s desired culture and values What You’ll Bring + Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems or a related field. Minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Graduating in Fall 2025 or Spring 2026. Must be available for the start date of the program for the January (January 20, 2026) and June (June 15, 2026) cohorts respectively + Technical Skills: Proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., Python, React, Typescript), Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git). Knowledge of relational databases such as MySQL, Postgres is desirable. Understanding of AI/ML concepts, platforms and frameworks (e.g. Natural Language Processing (NLP), AWS Bedrock, MLOps) is a plus. Experience leveraging prompt engineering techniques on platforms such as Chat GPT/Gemini/Coding assistants (e.g. Copilot, Cursor) is beneficial + Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving abilities, strong communication and collaboration skills, eagerness to learn and adapt, and a passion for technology + Other: Prior internship or project experience in software development is a plus Why You Should Join As one of the top mortgage lenders in the country, Pennymac has helped over 4 million lifetime homeowners achieve and sustain their aspirations of home.
