We are looking for a Digital Technology Lead Internal Manufacturing, with at least 10 years of experience to join us in our Digital Manufacturing and Engineering team, based in our Braine-l’Alleud office in Belgium.

 

About the role

As Digital Technology Lead Internal Manufacturing, you will be responsible for shaping and executing the digital strategy that supports UCB’s global manufacturing operations. Your focus will be on the deployment, optimization, and lifecycle management of Manufacturing Operations Management (MOM) systems to drive standardization, efficiency, and compliance across sites. You will lead the delivery of secure, scalable, and regulatory-compliant digital solutions that enable manufacturing excellence and support UCB’s Patient Supply strategy. This global role has strategic impact across key production sites in Belgium, Switzerland, and Japan.

 

Who you’ll work with

You will be part of the Digital Technology Backbone, collaborating closely with global experts from Manufacturing, Quality, Technical Operations, and IT. Your work will span multiple sites and functions, engaging with stakeholders across the organization to deliver digital capabilities that support operational excellence, innovation, and business continuity.

 

What you’ll do

Lead the end-to-end delivery and operational excellence of digital manufacturing platforms (e.g., MES, OEE, e-logbooks, EDMS, IoT, Digital Twins) across global production sites, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture and business objectivesAct as the accountable system owner for core manufacturing IT platforms, managing their lifecycle - including upgrades, integrations, and decommissioning - within a hybrid delivery model (internal and outsourced), while ensuring system reliability, scalability, and regulatory complianceDrive project governance by managing scope, timelines, budgets, risks, and stakeholder engagement across cross-functional teams, ensuring successful delivery of digital initiativesEnsure robust compliance with data integrity principles, cybersecurity and GxP regulatory requirements, embedding quality and security by design into all digital solutionsChampion digital transformation by identifying and implementing process optimization opportunities, leveraging emerging technologies (e.g., AI/ML, edge computing, advanced analytics) in close collaboration with Manufacturing, Quality, and IT stakeholders

Interested? For this role we’re looking for the following education, experience and skills

A minimum of a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in IT, Engineering, or Life Sciences. Certifications in IT project management and Manufacturing Operations Management systems are considered strong assets10+ years of experience leading and managing digital systems within regulated pharmaceutical manufacturing environments, with a strong understanding of GxP and data integrity requirementsDeep expertise in MOM platforms, including integration with enterprise systems such as ERP, LIMS, and industrial automationA proven track record of delivering complex IT/OT programs in compliance-driven, multi-site environments, with strong vendor and stakeholder management skillsSolid knowledge of pharmaceutical manufacturing processes, including maintenance, quality systems, and operational excellence frameworksFluency in English and French, with excellent communication and collaboration skills to engage effectively with global teams and stakeholders
