**Job Description**
**AECOM** is seeking a **Digital Design and Technology Manager** to be based in Roanoke, VA.
The Digital Design and Technology Manager will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of design and project delivery within our Building Design Practice. This position is responsible for leading the integration of digital technology, ensuring the office’s continued growth and success through strategic digital practice development.
This role demands a blend of technical expertise, strong communication skills, and a passion for innovation to drive the adoption and implementation of emerging BIM and other design technologies.
**Job Summary/Responsibilities**
The below responsibilities provide a broad overview of the Digital Design and Technology Manager’s role within the office, while also operating within regional/global/enterprise channels. As this role continues to evolve, there may be modifications to these responsibilities to align with business needs, emerging technologies, and strategic initiatives.
+ **Digital Strategy & Execution**
+ Develop and implement a forward-thinking digital strategy aligned with regional and global business objectives.
+ Identify and assess emerging technologies for potential integration into the firm’s workflows.
+ Champion the adoption of digital best practices, tools, and methodologies across disciplines.
+ Ensure alignment of digital initiatives/capabilities with firm-wide operational goals and client expectations.
+ **Innovation Leadership & Adoption**
+ Act as the go-to person for digital transformation, innovation, and process optimization.
+ Lead and promote a culture of continuous improvement and experimentation.
+ Provide guidance on leveraging automation, AI, and data analytics to enhance project efficiency and quality.
+ Organize and lead internal innovation programs, workshops, and technology pilots.
+ **Digital Operations & Support**
+ Oversee the development and maintenance of digital workflows, tools, and standards.
+ Troubleshoot and resolve digital-related challenges across project teams and various software platforms.
+ Optimize collaboration platforms such as SharePoint, Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC), and Power Platform for efficiency.
+ Moderate digital deliverables meet quality, compliance, and industry best practices.
+ Support the development of BIM Execution Plans (BEPs) and digital project delivery strategies.
+ Provide guidance on model coordination, data-driven design, and digital QA/QC processes.
+ Engage with project management teams to integrate digital solutions into project execution.
+ Safeguard digital information in accordance with IT security guidelines and best practices.
+ **Training & Knowledge Sharing**
+ Promote skill growth through training staff at all levels.
+ Facilitate digital onboarding for new hires and project teams.
+ Share updates on digital advancements, best practices, and firm-wide technology initiatives.
+ Encourage internal knowledge sharing through documentation, presentations, learning sessions, and mentorship opportunities.
+ **Industry Engagement & Future Trends**
+ Stay at the forefront of industry trends, including AI, automation, and virtual environments.
+ Represent the firm in external conferences, thought leadership forums, and/or industry panels.
+ Drive exploration into gamification, simulation-based design, and next-gen collaboration tools.
+ Foster relationships with technology partners, vendors, and/or research institutions.
**Qualifications**
**MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:**
+ BA/BS Architecture or Engineering/Engineering Technology and 8 years of related building design experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
+ Due to the nature of this work, US citizenship and the ability to obtain a federal sponsored clearance is required.
+ Valid US Driver’s License, and as a condition of employment, pass AECOM's motor vehicle records review.
**PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:**
+ Licensed Architect or Engineer
+ 10+ years of experience, including experience with federal programs and managing projects and people.
+ Direct experience managing projects for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) or other Department of Defense contracting agencies.
+ Federal government portfolio (DOD, VA, GSA, etc.).
+ Experience with (UFC’s, ETL’s, AFMAN’s, and AFI’s.).
+ Experience in developing scope, fee, and terms for proposals and change orders for interdisciplinary teams related to building design and engineering.
+ Experience in implementing design quality assurance and quality control activities.
+ Ability to interact regularly and professionally with senior management and technical staff in other offices on business development and project execution issues.
+ Holds or previously held a Department of Defense security clearance.
+ Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
+ Proven organizational skills with a proven track record in client satisfaction while meeting deliverables and deadline requirements.
+ Internally driven, self-starter, team orientated.
+ Engineer with strong, hands-on technical knowledge as well as proven experience leading a team through all phases of a project. The ideal candidate will have experience managing federal design projects and competence across federal design criteria, including UFC’s, ETL’s, AFMAN’s, and AFI’s.
**Additional Information**
+ This position does not offer relocation assistance.
+ Sponsorship for US Employment Authorization is not available now or in the future for this position.
Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $100,000.00 - $140,000.00.
