Leading the visual direction and creative strategy for our retail brand's complete digital ecosystem, the Digital Design Director will oversee all creative development from daily email communications to comprehensive site refreshes and high impact seasonal campaign launches. This role demands exceptional creative leadership and presentation skills to guide the team responsible for every visual touchpoint customers experience across our digital platforms.
Key Responsibilities
The Digital Design Director will oversee a creative team responsible for all digital visual content, from day-to-day email campaigns to major site overhauls, while serving as the primary creative presenter to leadership. Core duties include:
Lead and manage the creative team that develops all email creative, site updates, digital campaigns, and ongoing visual content across e-commerce, social media, and digital marketing channelsOversee daily creative operations including routine email campaigns, product updates, promotional materials, and incremental site improvements alongside major launchesServe as the primary creative presenter, delivering weekly site refresh presentations to leadership with clarity, confidence, and compelling storytellingBalance artistic vision with commercial objectives by incorporating leadership feedback constructively while maintaining design excellence and brand integrityDrive the creative vision for all digital touchpoints, ensuring consistency across every customer interaction big and smallMentor and develop a team of digital designers, providing creative direction, feedback, and growth opportunities while fostering a collaborative creative environmentPartner with Marketing, E-commerce, and Brand teams to develop visual solutions that drive measurable business results across all digital channelsEvolve and maintain brand guidelines for digital platforms, ensuring design excellenceRequired Qualifications
7+ years of digital design experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership roleStrong portfolio demonstrating exceptional digital design work across various platformsDeep understanding of digital design principles, UX/UI best practices, and current design trendsProven experience leading creative teams and managing multiple projects simultaneouslyExpert knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and contemporary design toolsStrong understanding of digital marketing, social media, and e-commerce platformsBachelor's degree in Design, Visual Arts, or related fieldDesired Skills & Attributes
Experience in retail or fashion industryStrong presentation and communication skillsAbility to translate data insights into creative solutionsKnowledge of motion graphics and animationUnderstanding of HTML, CSS, and digital production processesThe ideal candidate will combine creative excellence with business acumen, bringing both artistic vision and strategic thinking to help drive our brand's digital transformation and growth.

Salary Range: $136,000.00 - $170,000.00At J.Crew Group (JCG) we aim to pay competitively for our company’s size and industry. The base salary offered will take into account internal equity and may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region of work premises, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. The base salary is just one component of J.Crew Group’s competitive total rewards strategy that also includes the opportunity for bonus, competitive benefits and perks.
