As a pivotal member of the Data, Analytics, and AI organization, the Data and AI Architect will design and implement advanced data architectures and AI solutions that support Raytheon's business and digital teams. This role is crucial in delivering AI and advanced analytics products across various Raytheon functions and Strategic Business Units (SBUs). Positioned at the intersection of data governance and technological innovation, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop scalable, secure solutions that drive our mission. Your expertise will ensure that our data and AI capabilities are robust, cutting-edge, and aligned with industry best practices, ultimately empowering the organization to achieve its strategic goals.
What You Will Do
Design and implement robust data architectures that support the aggregation, analysis, and presentation of business data.
Develop AI architectures for applications including generative text, Q&A chatbots, semantic document comparison, computer vision, and agentic.
Collaborate with various directorates to support the development and deployment of AI solutions.
Employ formal architecture methods (e.g., TOGAF) for solution architecture and design. Develop reference architectures, data models, personas, use cases, landscape models, repositories, and knowledge bases.
Ensure scalability and security in line with Raytheon’s policies and industry’s best practices.
Participate in the selection and implementation of AI tools and platforms.
Engage cross-functional teams to deliver data and AI solutions.
Qualifications You Must Have
Typically requires a University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years experience
Experience in data modeling, data warehousing, and/or data integration techniques.
Experience with data pipelines, workflow orchestration tools, CI/CD pipeline design, containerization technologies, orchestrators, and/or infrastructure-as-code tools.
Experience in architecting and planning large cloud-based AI solutions.
Experience with generative algorithms, including transformers and diffusion models.
Experience with machine learning algorithms, neural networks, and AI frameworks.

Qualifications We Prefer
Experience with major cloud services (compute instances, storage solutions, databases, networking, serverless architectures).
Experience combining retrieval systems with LLMs for improved accuracy.
Understanding of AI agents, including design and deployment within ecosystems.
TOGAF certification and experience using the framework effectively.
Experience with formal architecture modeling (e.g., Cameo, UML, BPMN, SysML, ArchiMate).
Certifications in cloud-based AI services like AWS or Azure.
Experience leading data-centric AI/ML projects within the aerospace and defense industry.

Remote: This position currently is designated as remote. Employees who are working in remote roles will work primarily offsite (from home) but may be expected to travel to the site location as needed. The successful candidate for this role will be required to reside and work from one of the 50 U.S. states (excluding U.S. territories).
The salary range for this role is 124,000 USD - 250,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays.
