Job Overview:

The Dietary Assistant is actively involved in department activities and has a responsibility to ensure individualized, patient-centered health care for all patient populations admitted to NBI. Responsibilities include diet office work as assigned. Responsible for maintaining accurate dietary data and coordinating menu selections for the patients. Entering patients diet orders into the computer. Answering the telephone. Maintaining current diet orders for all patients; and printing diet rosters, snack labels, and bulk nourishment floor stock sign sheets.

Qualifications:

Required:

Successful completion of site personnel general orientation.Successful completion of department-specific orientation

Scheduling Requirements:

Sunday to Saturday 5:30am-1:30pm, 8:00am-4:00pm, 9:00am-5:00pm, 11:30am-7:30pmPer Diem is based on the operational needs of the department. Flexibility in availability is a requirement.Weekend and holiday requirements included.

Essential Functions:

Maintains up to date diet records for all patients to include food allergies, food preferences and current diet orders

Monitors and assists with meal service operations to ensure that patients' diet orders are followed and meals are delivered timely.Provides patient menus, diet rosters, snack lists, tallies, and labels in a timely manner and oversees all diet office activitiesProvides a compassionate and supportive environment with prompt and consistent serviceAdheres to patient rights: provides for the confidential treatment of all communications and recordsDemonstrates professionalism with families, visitors, physicians, co-workers and supervisorsListens and communicates effectivelyParticipates in ongoing education as required
