Summary
The Navigator is a patient educator, care coordinator, system navigator, and patient advocate with the mission to improve the care experience for breast cancer patients at Baptist Health LaGrange. The Navigator works collaboratively with the patient and their support system, referring physicians, radiologists, surgeons, radiation oncologists, pathologists, medical oncologists, cancer registry, outcomes department, clinical research staff, in- patient and outpatient care areas, community education and other healthcare professionals to support the cancer patient from prevention and early detection through diagnosis.Job Description:
Diagnostic Breast Navigator
24 Hours Weekly, Part Time, Dayshift
Baptist Health LaGrange is seeking to hire a part-time Diagnostic Breast Navigator that will coordinate high-quality, individualized care for diagnostic imaging patients by collaborating with providers, educating patients, and advocating for their needs throughout the care journey. This role involves active patient and family teaching, leadership within the care team, and a commitment to prioritizing the patient experience. The Navigator acts as an educator, care coordinator, consultant, and system guide, working across the care continuum—from prevention and early detection through diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship. Responsibilities include ensuring orders and appointments are accurate and understood, providing patient pre-exam assessments, conducting phone triage, and facilitating communication between patients and providers. The Navigator ensures timely access to test results and supports the development of care plans while maintaining confidentiality and promoting positive patient interactions. In addition, this role manages complex patient needs, promotes customer satisfaction, and supports multidisciplinary collaboration across radiology, surgery, oncology, research, and community education. The Navigator also takes initiative in program development, stays current in clinical education, reviews professional literature, and actively participates in safety training and ongoing self-improvement. This role is critical in enhancing the patient care experience through coordination, education, and leadership in clinical practice.
Requirements:
1. Graduate from accredited Nursing Program (associate level or higher); or Graduate of AMA accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography Technology Program; or Graduate of ARRT/JCERT accredited Radiologic Technology Program.
2. Two years relevant patient-care experience required.
3. Active RN Licensure if Nursing Candidate.
4. BCLS required within 90 days of hire.
