The clinical instructor will provide clinical services according to radiology practice standards and act as a resource to students, faculty, and other technologists. *Essential function #1– Teaching* *RDCS Certified - 40%; or RDMS (AB); RVT Certified – 60%* • RDCS-certified adjunct faculty will teach up to 16 hours per week, and RDMS (AB), RVT-certified faculty will teach up to 24 hours each week as assigned. This may include day and evening sections, on- and off-campus, weekends, and distance learning technologies. • Teach lab and clinical site visits as scheduled. • Prepare and distribute to all students a syllabus consistent with the course of study for each course taught, in collaboration with the didactic instructor. • Prepare grade reports for each course taught. • Recommend appropriate texts and support materials for each course taught. • Assist in requisitioning adequate instructional equipment and supplies. • In collaboration with the Program Director, review course content, teaching modality, etc., at the end of each semester. • Evaluate course instruction in accordance with established policy. • In addition to student training, student evaluation, coaching and mentoring is an important role of the clinical faculty member. • Develops proactive and beneficial relationships with imaging leadership in furthering student training and learning opportunities. *Essential function #2 – Clinical Sonographer* *RDCS Certified - 60%; or RDMS (AB); RVT Certified – 40%* • Use sonographic equipment to identify and observe the area(s) of concern • Prepare the exam room for examinations and assist Radiologists with ultrasound procedures and ultrasound-guided biopsies • Report to the appropriate medical staff of any abnormalities that require immediate attention • Maintain sonography equipment and report machinery failure • Conduct scan tests and write reports based on the results • Manage several patients and priorities, and be able to adapt to a fast-paced work environment • Work under minimal supervision and cooperate with other team members *Student Support* • Refer students to college resources such as advising, counseling, tutoring, financial aid, etc., as appropriate. • Maintain attendance records and confer with students who display excessive absenteeism or an inclination to withdraw from a course. • Confer with students who display poor academic performance. • Participate when applicable and practical in co-curricular activities. *Professional development* • Maintain a positive, professional relationship with colleagues, supervisors, students, and the community. • Attend on/off-campus professional development activities as schedule permits. • Adhere to policies, procedures, and regulations of Sovah Health. • Perform other related duties as assigned. *Minimum Education:* * Associate degree or higher in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or related field. * Bachelor’s degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or related field preferred. Drag Edit Delete ** *Required Skills:* * Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. * Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. * Must have working knowledge of the different types of sonographer equipment, mobile and stationary. * Teaching Aids: AV equipment, teaching films and diagrams, books, journals, diagnostic radiography equipment, student evaluation forms, requisitions, IBM PC and MS Office products, various forms used by the hospital and the program, office equipment.
