Aspirus Wausau Hospital in Wausau, WI is seeking a DIABETES EDUCATIONCOORDINATOR – CLINICAL NURSE EDUCATOR to join our team!
The Diabetes Education Coordinator is accountable for coordinating the care of the patient with diabetes from entry through discharge and referral. The coordinator guides, assists and serves as an expert resource to nursing staff and other members of the health care team to ensure delivery of high-quality care to patients with diabetes incorporating evidence-based practice.
The Diabetes Education Coordinator is a professional Registered Nurse or Registered Dietician who assumes responsibility and accountability for the provision of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of diabetic education provided that incorporates evidence-based practice. A key aspect of the work is to continually improve the quality of care by collecting and analyzing data.
HOURS: Supplemental or .4 FTE, 32 hours every pay period. Thursdays/Friday 8am – 4:30 pm
Experience/Qualifications
Knowledge of patient care standards and practices is normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor of Nursing, an active Wisconsin nursing license, or Registered Dietitian with Wisconsin Certification.Two to four years’ acute care experience required.Two to four years’ experience in diabetes education is preferred.State of Wisconsin Registered Nurse (RN) license or Registered Dietitian with Wisconsin Certification required.Current BLS certification or obtained within 90 days of hire - All clinical personnel in identified job codes are required to maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) training through independent study, online manikin and knowledge testing. An acceptable training program is the Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Provider course from the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross Professional Rescuer Program with AED. (See Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Training Policy).Certification as a Certified Diabetes Educator is beneficial with the expectation that certification will be aggressively pursued if not already obtained.
