Operates the Diesel Electrical Power Generation Plants to efficiently and safely produce electrical power to ensure demand requirements are met, 24 hours per day, seven days per week, throughout the contract period.Operation of the Diesel Electrical Power Generation Plants includes equipment and system components, such as engines, generators, energy monitoring, and control systems, and includes tasks, such as monitoring and regulation of equipment controls, maintaining operating records, logs, and reports, and examination, lubrication and minor adjustment of equipment and system components.Efficiently and safely operate the Electrical Power Distribution System to ensure electrical power is provided to meet all demand requirements, 24 hours per day, seven days per week, throughout the contract period.The operation consists of “watch-standing” or attendance-type work by a sufficient staff of qualified persons during a specified period to ensure safe, reliable, efficient distribution of electricity.Systems equipment and components shall be efficiently and safely operated per NFPA, ANSI, and NAVFAC MO-201.Operation of the Electrical Power Distribution System includes equipment and systems components, such as transformers, switchgear, and medium and low voltage distribution lines, and includes tasks, such as monitoring and regulation of equipment controls, maintaining operating records, logs, and reports, and examination, lubrication and minor adjustment of equipment and system components.Submit a Utilities Connection/Outage Request for each occasion electrical service will be interrupted on a planned basis. Perform switching for requested electrical utility outages.Respond during emergencies and other than regular working hours to meet unusual requirements (e.g., ship arrivals after regular working hours, NCTS Diego Garcia support, etc.)Observes and follow all safety rules and procedures, including wearing required personal safety equipment.Performs other duties and activities as directed.

Basic Qualifications

Must demonstrate the basic skills in all assignments associated with the operation and maintenance of the power generation plants and power plant control systems including the following as a minimum:Starting and securing engines.Paralleling AC generators, transferring, adding, or shedding loads.Making necessary adjustments to maintain voltage and frequency within specified ranges.Making necessary adjustments to reduce and minimize electrical system spinning reserve.Take the necessary casualty control and corrective measures for all emergency power generation situations.Exhibit advanced knowledge and skills in record-keeping practices and engine log management.Exhibit advanced knowledge and skills in Lube Oil and Jacket Water programs.Exhibit advanced knowledge and skills in computer operation and utilization.General knowledge of materials, methods, and tools involved in the electrical trade.Knowledge and experience regarding occupational hazards of the electrical trade, related safety precautions, and considerable skill required for the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and equipment.Must have good organizational and communication skills with the ability to exercise sound judgment and make independent decisions.Knowledge of principles and processes involved in supporting contract responsibilities at an overseas facility.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment that requires handling multiple tasks at a given time and rapidly adapting to changing priorities and schedules.Able to read and interpret Work Orders, parts requests, drawings/schematics/blueprints, and manuals to accomplish assigned duties.Must know electrical trade theory and follow the National Electrical Code.Must be able to perform physical activities such as, but not limited to, bending, standing, climbing, or walking.Must comply with OSHA 29 CFR 1910. These include, but are not limited to, CPR and successful completion of Electrical Safety Training.Must speak, read, and understand the English Language.Must pass overseas medical screening and be in good health.Must have a valid country of origin’s driver’s license.Must have basic knowledge using NAVFAC Maximo and Tablet.

Preferred Qualifications

JOB SPECIFICATIONS: SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS OR TRAINING

Completed TESDA courses with National Certifications are a plus:Electrical Installation and Maintenance - NC II, III, IVDiesel Power Plant Maintenance NC IIIDiesel Power Plant Operation and Maintenance NC II & IIIPlant Maintenance NC I, II, III

EDUCATION:

Must have at least a High School diploma, Vocational or Technical course Graduate is required.

EXPERIENCE:

Must have completed a 3-year apprenticeship program and at least 3 years of documented practical experience in assigned trades.Must have previously worked on Caterpillar & Fairbanks Morse two (2) cycle, medium speed heavy-duty stationary diesel engines.
