DevSecOps Engineering Consultant

Our Edmonton office is seeking an experienced DevSecOps Engineering Consultant. As a DevSecOps Specialist, you will play a central role in implementing and maintaining secure CI/CD pipelines, automation tooling, and secure deployment practices across modern infrastructure. You will be embedded within cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, secure, and high-performing software systems in cloud environments. This role combines hands-on DevSecOps engineering with a proactive security mindset, and may also involve contributing to development work using technologies such as .NET and Angular where required.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

• Design and maintain secure CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Dependabot, and CodeQL
• Implement security-focused DevOps practices within cross-functional development teams
• Automate deployment of applications to Azure using ARM templates, Bicep, or Terraform
• Conduct security risk assessments, perform threat modeling, and integrate security testing tools into the SDLC
• Build and manage containerized application deployments using Docker, Kubernetes, or OpenShift
• Collaborate with developers to proactively identify, mitigate, and remediate security vulnerabilities
• Contribute to full-stack development efforts as needed, using technologies such as .NET and Angular
• Translate business and technical requirements into secure architecture and implementation strategies
• Provide guidance and mentoring to development teams on security principles and best practices

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

• 6–10+ years of experience in DevSecOps or secure software engineering
• Hands-on experience with GitHub Actions, Dependabot, and CodeQL
• Experience deploying to Azure using Infrastructure as Code tools (ARM, Bicep, Terraform)
• Deep understanding of containerization (Docker) and orchestration platforms (Kubernetes, OpenShift)
• Proficient in scripting and programming with .NET, Java, or related languages
• Familiarity with security frameworks, secure SDLC practices, and automated security testing
• Strong understanding of version control systems and modern DevOps tooling
• Excellent communication and documentation skills

Preferred Skills

• Experience in frontend or full-stack development using Angular, React, or Vue.js
• Familiarity with Microsoft Azure certifications (e.g., Azure DevOps Engineer, Solutions Architect)
• Exposure to security-focused certifications such as: - DevSecOps Engineering (DevOps Institute) - DevOps Foundation - DevOps Leader - Continuous Delivery Architecture
• Knowledge of Identity and Access Management concepts (OAuth2, OpenID Connect)
• Experience in Agile or Scrum environments
