Position Information:
The DevOps Engineer II, under general supervision, supports the design, deployment, and maintenance of cloud and hybrid platforms. This role focuses on automation, continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD), monitoring, and compliance to ensure scalable, secure, and reliable operations across enterprise environments.
Responsibilities:
Cloud & Platform Deployment:
+ Implements and maintains applications and services across AWS, Azure, RedHat, Linux, and WPEngine environments.
+ Ensures reliable, scalable, and high-availability operations for enterprise workloads.
Automation & CI/CD:
+ Builds and optimizes automation pipelines for deployment, provisioning, and workflows.
+ Utilizes tools such as Ansible, Python, GitHub Actions, and batch scripting to improve delivery efficiency.
System Reliability & Monitoring:
+ Supports stable, secure, and high-performing systems through proactive monitoring and troubleshooting.
+ Provides maintenance of cloud, hybrid, and WPEngine infrastructures.
Quality, Security & Compliance:
+ Conducts testing, validation, and QA of deployments.
+ Ensures compliance with security, performance, and regulatory requirements.
Collaboration:
+ Works closely with engineers, analysts, and end users to translate requirements into effective solutions.
+ Ensures seamless integration with existing systems and workflows.
Documentation & Knowledge Sharing:
+ Creates and maintains technical documentation for deployments, upgrades, and operational processes.
+ Contributes to knowledge bases and provides training and peer guidance.
Continuous Improvement:
+ Identifies opportunities to refine processes, tools, and infrastructure.
+ Improves efficiency, reduces risks, and scales service delivery through iterative enhancements.
Required Education and Experience:
+ Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
+ Three (3) years of related experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
+ Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
+ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
+ Knowledge of DevOps practices and cloud infrastructure management.
+ Ability to maintain the security and integrity of cloud, hybrid, and critical infrastructure systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Experience with container orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker).
+ Familiarity with infrastructure as code tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation).
+ Experience administering WPEngine multisite environments.
Other Requirements and Factors:
+ May require work outside of standard office hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
+ Compliance with state and federal laws/codes and Texas A&M University System/TAMU policies, regulations, rules, and procedures are required.
+ All tasks and job responsibilities must be performed safely in compliance with System and University safety requirements.
What You Need to Know
Salary: Pay grade 73. Compensation for this position is commensurate based on the selected candidate’s qualifications.
