Software Engineer (Ab Initio)

Responsibilities:

Design and Development: Provide input and develop application/feature/component designs based on user stories and requirements. Code, debug, test, document, and communicate features at various development stages. Optimization: Select appropriate technical options, such as reusing or improving existing components. Identify opportunities for process improvements, automation, and agile delivery models. Mentorship and Guidance: Mentor junior developers (Developer 1 and Developer 2) to help them grow in their roles. Assist Lead 1 in technical design and decision-making. Issue Identification and Resolution: Identify and resolve technical issues in the system and modules. Perform root cause analysis and mitigation for defects. Collaboration: Work closely with Product Management to ensure the development aligns with goals and vision. Participate in status reporting and ensure adherence to timelines and project standards. Release and Documentation: Oversee the release process and create documentation for your work. Review peer documentation and contribute to project-related knowledge sharing.

Requirements:

Experience in delivering software throughout the development lifecycle. Expertise in Ab Initio and related technologies. Proficient in GDE (Graphical Development Environment) and Unix scripting languages. Strong understanding of software programming, technical design, and development practices. Ability to mentor and guide junior developers effectively. Ability to estimate delivery effort, time, and resources for development tasks. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications:

Hands-on experience in the credit card or financial domain. Familiarity with agile development methodologies. Prior experience in code reviews and maintaining coding standards. Expertise in using integrated development environments (IDEs) and version control systems. Experience with defect tracking, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement.

Technical Skills:

Proficiency in Ab Initio development and related tools. Strong knowledge of Unix scripting languages. Experience with database management systems (DBMS) and SQL. Familiarity with Agile methodologies and project management tools. Expertise in Integrated Development Environments (IDEs). Solid understanding of software development best practices (e.g., Pair Programming, Test-Driven Development, etc.).
