Job Description

Java Developer- Transportation Data Pipeline, TDP (Associate, II or III, adjust the minimum and required qualifications to fit level and current needs), Operational Experience, GNS & Transcon Products

SUMMARY and RESPONSIBILITIES

The Information Systems- Operational Experience portfolio is responsible for developing core business applications that enable our worldwide network to efficiently manage and transport transcontinental freight.   These systems satisfy customer and organization business requirements and provide solutions that enable the organization to achieve its goals. The developer understands business problems and opportunities and applies technical skills in the design, development and testing of data flows, applications, and systems.

This position works on the Transportation Data Pipeline (TDP) that bridges multiple application’s data models and maps the differences in business processes to allow our global system to function seamlessly.  This effort is part of Expeditors strategic initiatives.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Ability to produce high quality code (e.g., testable/extensible, maintainable) for complex technical solutionsDemonstrated ability to communicate technical details to both technical and non-technical stakeholdersProven interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectivelyProficiency with the software development lifecycle, especially Agile techniquesEffective at navigating ambiguity and mitigating risksExcellent time management and organization skillsBachelor's degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent job-related experience

Desired Qualifications

Proficient with Spring, Kafka and Kafka StreamsExperience with Kubernetes (K8s)Experience with integration and data transformation in complicated systemsExperience with XML, Microservices, and Event Driven ArchitectureExperience with IntelliJ IDE’s, Git, Maven, NexusProficient in driving technical and process improvementsUnderstanding of the transportation/global logistics industry
