Desktop Engineer- Lead Consultant

Job Description

We’re looking for a technically advanced Desktop Engineer- Lead Consultant with a strong foundation in DevOps practices, scripting, and endpoint automation. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about building scalable, automated solutions using tools like Jenkins, GitHub, PowerShell, Bash, and APIs.

Location: Hybrid preferred – candidates within commuting distance of Wheeling, IL are encouraged to apply (on-site ~1 day/week for lab testing and validation) but fully remote candidates will be considered.

Key Responsibilities:

Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitHub, and Artifactory to support secure desktop automation and software delivery.

Develop advanced scripts in PowerShell and Bash to automate complex workflows, including custom XML-based UI tools.

Integrate APIs (Microsoft Graph, Nexthink, Jamf, etc.), databases, and reports to enhance endpoint management and streamline ITSM processes by reducing wait times, handoffs, and manual intervention.

Administer and optimize Nexthink, Intune, and Windows 365 environments, including remote actions, investigations (NQL), and proactive remediation.

Troubleshoot complex desktop issues, including network/firewall, audio, and large-scale outages, with hands-on lab testing as needed.

Collaborate cross-functionally to improve system performance, user experience, and automation coverage.

 
Required Qualifications:

Proven experience in a Desktop Engineering, DevOps, or Automation-focused role

Proficiency with an integrated CI/CD-driven process automation workflow

Deep experience with PowerShell, Bash, and API-driven automation for endpoint management and diagnostics

Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.

Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively

 
Preferred Qualifications:

Expertise in Jenkins pipeline-as-code, GitHub branching strategies, and JFrog Artifactory artifact lifecycle management.

Familiarity with Agile methodologies and modern DevOps practices.

Experience with Nexthink, Microsoft Intune, Windows 365, and Microsoft Power Platform

Extensive custom PowerShell and bash scripting experience, including writing XML based user interfaces

Proximity to Wheeling, IL for occasional on-site lab work.

Compensation

Compensation offered for this role is $92,560.00 - 166,465.00 annually and is based on experience and qualifications.

The candidate(s) offered this position will be required to submit to a background investigation.
