As a Designer II, a typical day might include the following:
Create detailed physical and electrical designs, bills of materials and support job estimates under the direction of a technical lead.
Prepare CAD drawings and other project documentation.
Provide design engineering support to project technical leads.
Prepare technical specifications for review.
Complete assigned work within timelines and budgets with a high level of quality.
Develop and maintain an intermediate level of expertise in SEL and industry design practices.
Assist, mentor, and train interns, drafters and entry level designers.
Develop and maintain an intermediate level of knowledge of SEL equipment and solutions for electric power system protection and automation.
Assist with the development of improvements to available processes and tools and provide feedback on process enhancements
This job might be for you if:
Associate degree in EET, CAD, Drafting, or relevant discipline; or possess equivalent experience for each academic year
Six plus years of relevant experience with high voltage electrical design, including multiple projects in protective relay control systems
Ability to learn concepts and technical details of products
Ability to work independently, accepting ownership of assigned responsibilities
Expert competence in CAD drafting (AUTOCAD or Microstation)
Intermediate understanding of the installation requirements for protective relays of different type and function
Willing to travel as needed
Preferred Qualifications
Experience testing and commissioning protective relay, process control, and SCADA control systems
Electrical utility, consulting, or system integrator experience
Knowledge of protective relay applications and/or automation applications

Pay Range Information:
$31.97 - $38.37 per hour. Our salary ranges are determined by job, responsibility, and location. We base our starting pay offer and title on location and job-related factors such as candidate experience, training, knowledge, and skills.
