Job Title: Design Project Manager
Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Design Project Manager to assess and recommend changes to current overhead and underground distribution and transmission systems. This role involves providing project management support, estimating, designing, and coordinating with drafters to meet client-specific needs for maintenance upgrades and new build projects. Additionally, you will support electrical load calculations and oversee permitting responsibilities related to overhead/aerial distribution utility construction.

ResponsibilitiesEvaluate existing distribution and transmission systems for potential improvements.Provide design changes and recommendations as necessary.Support project management tasks, including estimating and coordinating with drafters.Collaborate on maintenance upgrades and new build projects for distribution systems.Understand load tolerances, calculations, and structural capacity.Conduct pole/load calculations.Support and permit overhead/aerial distribution utility construction.Focus on vegetation management design and equipment/pole replacements for fire mitigation and reconductor projects.Essential Skills1-3+ years of experience in construction management or engineering related to power distribution power line systems.Proficiency in design, AutoCAD, power distribution, and transmission design.Experience in project scheduling, permitting, and utility construction (both underground and overhead).Familiarity with modeling software such as PoleForeman, O-calc, and PLS-CADD.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience with drafting, design, or engineering.Engineering or construction degree preferred but not required.Strong computer skills with proficiency in MS Office Suite.Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently while seeking support when needed.Work Environment

This is a full-time position requiring 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday. The work schedule is flexible and hybrid, with the possibility of working from the field, home, the H&M West office in East Portland, or the PGE office at Rose City in NW Portland. Office locations and work site schedules may change weekly based on project demands. The Rose City office features open seating, while the H&M West office is cubicle style. Team members support the PGE Design program, with some days being quiet and others bustling with activity.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $50.00/hr.
