Job Description
This role involves a balanced focus on both design/production and management. The Design Manager will lead and oversee a team of Process Designers to ensure accurate, on-time, and on-budget delivery of design models and construction drawings. The position acts as the primary point of contact for all design-related activities with customers and internal teams throughout all project phases, from estimating to commissioning and start-up.
ResponsibilitiesDrive continuous improvement initiatives, including process updates, software upgrades, and standardization of deliverables.Review specifications for compliance, manage change orders, and provide technical direction on design activities.Lead, mentor, and develop team members, fostering technical growth, professional development, and high performance within the department.Conduct quarterly performance reviews for team members and participate in resource planning sessions.Demonstrate a technical and business mindset, confidently navigating ambiguity and dynamic project environments.Model core company values and coach team members in embodying them in their work.Oversee the execution of multiple small-to-large-scale projects, coordinating design resources and ensuring efficient workflows.Contribute to organizational success, incentivized by project performance, personal achievements, and business goals.Essential SkillsProficiency in Plant 3D, P&ID, Revit, and Mechanical design.Experience in management, particularly in the Food and Beverage or Clean room sectors.Familiarity with process piping and Navisworks.8 years of design experience.2-3 years of management experience.Understanding of preconstruction phases for design.Additional Skills & QualificationsAssociates Degree in Drafting or an Engineering degree (mechanical preferred).Experience in Plant 3D or Revit.Work Environment
The position involves managing a team of 2-5 members. A hybrid schedule is available, with 3 days in the office and 2 days remote work in Louisville (preferred), Lexington, or Cincinnati. The role requires 10-30% travel to other offices, which will vary based on the home office location.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $110000.00 - $130000.00/yr.
