Job Description:

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Design Manager – Civil/Geotechnical to join our team! In this role, you will perform conventional and highly complex engineering assignments, applying advanced engineering techniques and analyses to deliver exceptional project outcomes.

What You'll Be Doing:

Review work produced to ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and procedures, and verify quality meets company standards.

Monitor productivity and technical proficiency of assigned personnel; make staffing assignments and reassignments as project needs evolve.

Conduct performance evaluations, implement corrective actions, and recommend promotions, salary adjustments, and training/development programs for your team.

Provide technical direction, making key decisions or securing additional technical support as needed—including consulting external experts when warranted.

Promote technical excellence on projects, driving continuous improvement through Parsons’ Quality Improvement Process.

Ensure thorough checking and validation of design work following discipline checking policies.

Coordinate design efforts with project staff and engineers from other disciplines through clear and frequent communication.

Advise engineering and project management teams regarding challenges, staffing needs, production delays, scope changes, or other events that could affect project completion or profitability.

Initiate and/or review change order requests for scope adjustments.

Recommend design methods, equipment use, and discipline standards to optimize project outcomes.

Supervise the production of project drawings and design calculations.

Maintain affiliation with professional societies to stay current with industry technologies.

Prepare and recommend technical papers and other professional contributions.

Perform other responsibilities as appropriate to support project and organizational goals.

​What Required Skills You'll Bring:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from a recognized university.

Minimum 10 years of experience in an engineering or consulting environment.

Thorough understanding of current technology and software capabilities used in architectural and civil/geotechnical design.

Proven experience preparing project correspondence, technical specifications, and engineering reports.

Strong communication skills to interact effectively with clients, government agencies, and multi-disciplinary engineering teams.

Good knowledge of industry practices, regulations, and engineering standards.

Computer literacy – Minimum Microsoft Office applications, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Comfortable interacting with all levels of management.
