Job Title: Design Engineering Manager

Job Description

The Design Engineering Manager will provide vision and leadership for both existing and emerging product and application technologies by understanding customer and business needs. This role involves managing a team of engineers and technical staff, leading product development from concept to production, and optimizing design processes to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance product quality.

ResponsibilitiesLead the product development process from concept to production, including brainstorming, conceptualization, design, prototyping, and testing.Provide technical leadership and expertise to the design team, guiding them in solving complex engineering problems and making design decisions.Analyze and optimize design processes to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance product quality.Ensure designs meet quality standards, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations, implementing quality control measures throughout the design process.Allocate resources such as manpower, materials, and equipment effectively to meet production targets while minimizing waste.Lead and supervise a team of design engineers and technicians, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure smooth operations.Encourage innovation and creativity within the design team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, and staying updated on industry trends and emerging technologies.Collaborate with other departments such as manufacturing, quality assurance, marketing, and sales to ensure that design specifications meet the needs of various stakeholders and are feasible for production.Identify potential risks and challenges in the design process and implement strategies to mitigate them.Collaborate with external suppliers and vendors for components, materials, or services related to design to ensure timely delivery and quality standards are met.Develop and manage budgets for design projects and identify opportunities to reduce costs without compromising on quality or performance.Ensure that design documentation, including drawings, specifications, and technical reports, are accurately maintained and updated.Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements and industry standards.Support the introduction of new products into production, including process validation, capacity planning, and production ramp-up.Manage the entire lifecycle of products from initial design through to end-of-life, including product updates, revisions, and obsolescence management.Manage on-time delivery of designs, drawings, and instruction to support BOM and items released to support production schedule needs.Cultivate sustained innovation in delivering exceptional products to customers.Essential SkillsBachelor's degree in mechanical, welding, manufacturing engineering or equivalent.Minimum of 10 years of supervisory experience in product development, design, manufacturing, or related field.High degree of welding experience with sheet metal, weldments, and large assemblies, with at least 10 years in required industries.Experience with ERP systems and computer-aided design (CAD) software.Demonstrated experience in project management and engineering management.Additional Skills & QualificationsCWI preferred.Knowledge of pressure vessels and non-code vessels is required.Experience with Autodesk Inventor and metal fabrication.R&D experience and proven leadership in mentoring fellow engineers.Ability to direct and manage multiple concurrent engineering projects.Work Environment

The team consists of five design engineers and two designers, working in a brand new 100,000 sq ft facility. The facility is equipped with cutting-edge technology and processes, aiming for seamless transition of equipment, people, and processes to maintain throughput.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $130000.00/yr.
