JOB SUMMARYWe are seeking a seasoned and strategic Design Engineering Manager to lead our Electrical Engineering (EE) team in the design and development of cutting-edge server and storage solutions. This role is responsible for managing engineers, overseeing project execution, and aligning engineering efforts with business objectives. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, technical expertise, and a passion for innovation in enterprise hardware systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Team & Talent Management
+ Lead recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and retention of top EE talent.
+ Assess and enhance individual and team skills; identify development needs and provide coaching.
+ Define clear, measurable goals and performance metrics for the team.
+ Foster a collaborative, high-performance engineering culture.
Project & Technical Leadership
+ Manage key projects from concept through production, ensuring alignment with goals, budgets, and timelines.
+ Oversee the design and development of new server/storage products and electrical systems.
+ Ensure technical excellence, compliance with standards, and manufacturability of designs.
+ Apply project management principles to control schedules, risks, and resources.
Strategic & Operational Excellence
+ Develop and implement departmental policies, procedures, and best practices.
+ Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and methodologies; integrate innovations into design processes.
+ Contribute to the strategic direction of the department and align engineering goals with business objectives.
+ Develop and execute cost-reduction strategies through process and system efficiencies.
+ Prepare and analyze forecasts to assess departmental performance and trends.
Qualifications:
+ Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
+ Minimum 15 years of experience in electrical design engineering, with at least 10 years in a leadership role managing teams of 10+ engineers.
+ Proven experience in server/storage hardware development.
+ Strong understanding of EE design principles, high-speed PCB design, power systems, and signal integrity.
+ Proficient in project management concepts and tools.
+ CPLD (Complex Programmable Logic Device) team management experience is a plus.
