Requires some amount of timely supervision to ensure the proper tasks are being accomplished and that communication is adequate, timely, in the correct manner (i.e. verbal, written, email, etc.) **Level 2** - Consistently achieves all of the objectives of this position. This individual also provides mentoring and direct day-to-day supervision to level 1 positions. **Senior** - Highly experienced in the position. Advanced awareness of the technical needs of both the controls system programming, integration to other systems, and very sophisticated HVAC strategies if working in the control field. May act as a lead to assist others on very complex project tasks. Also provides mentoring and direct supervision when required on projects. **Job Duties & Responsibilities:** + Design and develop PLC control systems for mission-critical data centers, using Allen-Bradley ControlLogix systems and Allen-Bradley ControlLogix platforms to meet scope of work and budget as defined by contract documents and sales estimate ensuring equipment compatibility. + Create detailed control system architecture diagrams, I/O lists, PLC network topologies, and functional design specifications. + Interface with Building Management Systems (BMS), Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS), and Mechanical systems (chillers, CRACs, etc.). + Support integration with higher-level automation systems and data acquisition platforms. + Interpret project documents, estimate, and other information as available to select the proper equipment to achieve the scope of work required in the most effective and functional manner. + Maintain project documentation, revision control, and change management logs + Provide detailed sequence of operations as required. + Complete a Bill of Material for every design project. + Maintain clear documentation of design systems, wiring diagrams and software configurations. + Communicate with internal employees as required to ensure engineering is accurate and timely. + Prepare and maintain comprehensive controls submittal packages and as-built documentation utilizing AutoCAD, in accordance with contract documents and industry best practices + Assist Sales team during estimation/bid phase of the project by providing design support. + Collaborate with Project Managers to assist in generating Request for Information (RFIs) to clarify design issues and recommend appropriate solutions as necessary. + Independently complete all specific design responsibilities with minimal supervision. + Accurately forecast necessary labor required to design a complete project and track this over time to achieve budget and forecast goals. + Provide support for ongoing service engineering and support for existing control systems. + Suggest/recommend new products that provide better functionality and value to projects. + As assigned, develop and maintain a library of engineering standards for both Climatec and industry. + Facilitate with external customers/vendors as required to ensure accurate and timely engineering. + Assist in managing the timeline, budget, and coordination of projects. + Provide support to Climatec and other contractors to solve system operating issues that go beyond the control’s operation. + Other duties as assigned. **Skills & Qualifications:** **Minimum Qualifications:** + BS degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or a related technical field. Experience in the BAS field can supersede a degree. + 3+ years of experience in PLC-based control systems, with specific focus on Allen-Bradley ControlLogix systems + Proven experience in mission-critical datacenter controls design. + Strong understanding of PLC platforms control systems architecture, electrical drawings (P&ID, schematics), and PLC hardware. + Hands-on experience with industrial networking, including VLANs, managed switches, and secure remote access. + Familiarity with BMS (Building Management Systems) or EPMS (Electrical Power Monitoring Systems) in data center applications. + Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, or similar design tools; experience with control panel layouts and wiring diagrams is a plus. + Experience designing and engineering PLC control systems, including developing sequence of operations and equipment selection. + Proficiency with reading and creating layout drawings to guide system installation (sensor locations, panel placement) + Ability to develop Bills of Material (BOM). + Proficiency in AutoCAD design for PLC Control systems within commercial or industrial facilities. + Familiarity with generating and managing RFIs (Requests for Information) to resolve design issues. + Strong understanding of project documents, scopes of work, and the ability to interpret contract drawings and specifications. + Collaborate with cross-functional teams (mechanical, electrical, IT, commissioning) to ensure cohesive system design. + Participate in design reviews, value engineering, and constructability assessments. + Interpret and apply codes and standards relevant to controls and critical facility design. + Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical plans. + Understanding of computer systems, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.). + Strong written and verbal communication skills. + Proven ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment. + Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to navigate and resolve issues empathetically and professionally. **Preferred Qualifications:** + MS degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or a related technical field.
