The Opportunity:

Avantor is looking for a motivated Design Engineer to join our Single-Use Designing team. Are you looking to work in an international environment and to utilize your recent experience as a Design Engineer? Keep on reading!

This is a full-time hybrid position based in Hillegom. You will have the opportunity to work from home for two days a week. As a successful Design Engineer, your main focus is to develop and create drawings and prototypes of single-use products in the life sciences/biopharma industry. We offer a 1-year contract, which will be extended after positive evaluation. Next to a competitive base salary, we offer benefits like 13th month, bonus scheme, 31 days of holidays, and a pension plan.

The team 

Avantor’s Singe-Use Designing team is part of our Engineering department. The team currently consists of 7 Engineers and supports the creation of innovative Single-Use Biopharma products.

What we’re looking for 

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Biomedical Engineering

Experience: 2-3 years of experience as a Design Engineer; including competency in developing drawings; Life Sciences industry experience is a plus

Tools: Good knowledge of MS Office (mainly Excel) and AutoCAD, Solidworks, or a similar software

Preferred Qualifications: 

Strong communication skills in English; Dutch is a great assetPro-active, adaptable, and flexibleHighly organized, good problem-solving skills, and customer-friendly personality

Develop 2D/3D drawings based on sketches or descriptionsSelect appropriate sub-components, develop test protocols, and perform physical testsEnsure that the design meets both the customers' and business needs by calculating materials cost and making cost estimationsTest product quality by organizing and/or performing various tests and by creating validation packets for customersMaintain engineering documents, including a library of all sub-componentsTake a role in global engineering process harmonization and development projectsResolve customer complaints in a timely manner; notify management of problems and suggest corrective actionsMaintain contact with existing and new vendors to implement state-of-the-art industry solutionsUnderstand and support company operating procedures to provide proper and effective service to all customers and foster the development of long-term business relationshipsSupport and consult the production department - participate in troubleshooting and suggest engineering resolutions
