Trinity Industries is searching for a Design Engineer in our Dallas, TX office. The Design Engineer primary role will be to design, develop, and deliver manufacturing equipment for Trinity factories. 

What you'll do:

Design Trinity Rail products and specify the components that make up the productsDesign and develop products, processes, systems, services or scientific applications using broad engineering concepts and research techniquesFacilitate transition of product design and enhancement to full production/deliveryEvaluate designs and products for compliance with regulatory and contractual standards in terms of material, stability and performanceCollect and analyze functional requirements of proposed products.  Refine concepts, design products, plan project scope, determine and maintain schedulesCreate or serve as project leader for production of layouts, specifications, prototype build drawings and bill of materialsDirect functional activities to drafters or drafting teamsProvide technical services to internal divisions, plant managers and teams in sales, engineering and manufacturing departments.  Maintain external relationships with vendors, customers, engineers and operating personnel at various companies regarding non-standard components and their developments

What you'll need:

B.S./M.S. in Mechanical Engineering, required3+ years’ experience of engineering procedures and administration; emphasis on railcar design preferredOutstanding communication skills – both written and verbalExcellent Microsoft Office skills necessaryAbility to multi-task / handle multiple projects of differing scale
