Design Engineer
**Job Description:** **Position Summary:** The Design Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and improving tooling, prototypes, and manufacturing processes to support new product introductions and ongoing production needs. This role requires active participation in cross-functional teams, providing design feedback, utilizing simulation tools, and developing key documentation for production readiness. + Design and develop tooling and fixtures required for manufacturing processes. + Collaborate with suppliers and internal teams for prototype fabrication and testing. + Lead the design and validation of prototypes to support pre-launch and launch activities. + Provide feedback for improvements based on prototype evaluation. + Develop and maintain control plans, process flows, DFMEAs and PFMEAs to ensure robust product and process designs. + Participate in risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies. + Create and release detailed drawings, ensuring they meet internal and customer specifications. + Conduct tolerance stack-ups and work closely with simulation and analysis teams. + Identify opportunities for design and process improvements based on production feedback and customer input. + Support root cause analysis and corrective actions for design-related issues. + Utilize simulation tools (e.g., FEA, flow analysis) to validate designs and optimize performance before launch. + Interpret simulation results to provide actionable design recommendations. **Required Skill, Education and Experience** + Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field. + 2+ years of experience in design engineering within a manufacturing environment preferred. + Experience with FMEA, Control Plan development, and Process Flow documentation. + Understanding of prototype development and product launch processes. + Working knowledge of advanced statistical tools used to reduce variations. Six Sigma Black or Green Belt certification is a plus. + Flexible, open-minded team player with excellent written and verbal communication skills. + Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving capabilities to work effectively in corporate, manufacturing and team environments. + Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. + Proficient in Computer assisted design (CAD) proficiency in AutoCAD and SolidWorks. + Experience leading focused improvement projects, preferred. + Experience and/or training in safe work environments, capital improvement, and machining or cold metal working. **Compensation Information:** $85,000 - $100,000 _ITW is an equal opportunity employer.
