Job Summary

North Anna Design Engineering is looking for a Design Drafter (Associate to Senior Level).

This role performs drafting duties including preparation, maintenance and updating of an industrial Nuclear Power Station documentation including Mechanical, Civil, or Electrical circuits and prints, station and standard drawings, maps, charts and graphic arts.  Prepares, maintains and updates P&ID, circuit and one-line diagrams, prints and charts.  Works with other department personnel to obtain and verify information needed to produce detailed drawings from designer and engineer sketches for circuit drawings and one-lines.  Creates and updates drawings manually and through use of computer aided drafting system.  Maintain computer aided drafting system in operational condition.  Performs freehand and mechanical pencil and ink lettering for drawings, posters and prints.  Retrieves and issues original drawings from records management and reproduces maps.  Drafts mechanical, electrical and civil construction drawings and updates-controlled drawings from designer and field sketches.  Perform other duties as requested or assigned.  The applicant is versed in basic Microsoft software applications such as Word and Excel.  Prefer someone with an electrical background, a combination of Electrical with Civil and Mechanical experience will be considered.  

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

The knowledge, skills, abilities and experience required for entry into this job include the following:

Associate:  0-2 years Applicable related experience. Drafter:  3+ years of relevant experience in drafting.  Senior:  5+ years of relevant experience in drafting. 

Full knowledge of drafting principles. Full knowledge of computer aided drafting. Basic knowledge of electrical, mechanical or civil principles. Skills: reproduction equipment, mechanical drawing, computer graphics, verbal and written communication. Abilities: analytical and abstract thinking, problem solving, process information quickly. ''

Skills:  manual technical drawing and computer assisted drawing; verbal and written communication; use of drafting tools. Computer drafting knowledge and prior experience is desired of any applicant.  Solid CADD Microstation/AutoCAD skills. Good math skills, ability to perform basic calculations, review technical documents, drawings and diagrams.  Attention to detail, good organizational skills, ability to prioritize work. Good computer and keyboarding skills.

Abilities:  analytical thinking; process information quickly.

Education Requirements

Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education:

High school graduate, GED

AS degree in Drafting is preferred.

Knowledge with MICROSTATION and/or Projectwise drafting software is desired.
