Job Summary

The Design Civil/Structural Engineer serves as a member of the Mechanical/Structural Design Engineering Unit at Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station. This group serves as the owners of the design and licensing basis for the station.

Key Accountabilities

Prepare engineering change packages for modifications to the station, including design drawings, vendor drawings, specifications, and other applicable documentsMaintain civil and structural calculations up to dateAssist in developing solutions to engineering technical issues in support of plant operation and maintenancePrepare technical reports and presentations on engineering technical issues as neededSupport problem identification and resolution using the Corrective Action ProgramPerform walkdowns for monitoring of plant structuresEnsure changes to the design requirements are identified, documented, controlled, evaluated, and approvedManage and complete assigned activities to support timely implementation for required plant operationsMaintain the plant design and licensing basis complying with industry standards and regulationsParticipating in Problem Solving and Decision-Making teams, troubleshooting efforts and developing repair strategies for plant equipment as necessarySupporting the Emergency Response Organization

Education, Experience, & Skill Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Civil/Structural) from an ABET-accredited institution (or international equivalent) is required10 - 15 years of experience is preferredAll levels of experience will be considered; previous engineering experience in the nuclear industry is highly desired Possession of Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain a PE highly desired Knowledge of AISC and ACI Codes requiredMust possess sound research, analytical and technical abilitiesMust be able to work independently in leadership and mentoring roles with little supervisory involvementProficient with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel and PowerPointExcellent interpersonal skills and strong analytical abilityStrong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to make technical presentations to all levels of managementAbility to work extended hours, shift schedules and perform on-call duties when necessaryAble to deliver quality and accurate work within established deadlinesMust reside within site-specific Emergency Response Organization response timeFamiliarity with Nuclear Power Plant Design, licensing basis documents, and the processes used to maintain them is a plus.
