The **Deputy Operations Manager** supports the Operations Manager in overseeing the day-to-day operational functions of the organization. This role ensures efficient execution of workflows, effective coordination across teams, and timely resolution of operational issues. The Deputy is responsible for supervising staff, optimizing processes, managing escalations, and maintaining high standards of service delivery. Acting as a key liaison between frontline teams and senior leadership, the Deputy Operations Manager plays a critical role in driving operational excellence, ensuring compliance, and supporting strategic initiatives. This role requires strong leadership, analytical thinking, and the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
**Responsibilities**
+ Assist the Operations Manager in planning, coordinating, and overseeing daily operational activities to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.
+ Monitor performance metrics and support continuous improvement initiatives across departments.
+ Supervise and mentor team leads and operations staff, ensuring clear communication of expectations and alignment with organizational goals.
+ Step in as acting Operations Manager during absences or when delegated authority is required.
+ Identify process bottlenecks and inefficiencies; propose and implement solutions to streamline operations.
+ Coordinate response to operational incidents, working closely with team leads and support teams to ensure timely resolution.
+ Escalate critical issues to the Operations Manager or relevant leadership, while ensuring interim steps are taken to mitigate impact.
+ Assist with workforce planning, shift coverage, and resource allocation to support operational priorities and project requirements.
+ Ensure appropriate staffing levels are maintained to meet service-level objectives.
+ Prepare briefing materials, status reports, and contribute to strategic planning documentation.
+ Act as a liaison between operations and other departments to ensure alignment and support.
+ Participate in regular coordination meetings and relay key updates to operational staff.
+ Ensure that operations adhere to internal policies, industry regulations, and quality standards.
+ Support audits and compliance checks with documentation and evidence gathering.
+ Promote a culture of learning, accountability, and performance excellence.
+ Provide insights and recommendations to senior leadership based on operational trends, risks, and opportunities.
+ Support execution of long-term operational strategies and transformation efforts.
+ Other duties as assigned.
**Qualifications**
+ High school diploma or GED equivalent
+ Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field preferred.
+ 3+ years of experience managing a technical support team.
+ A minimum of a IAT Level II (DoD 8570.1M) certification is required: e.g., GSEC; Security+ CE; CCNA-Security; CySA+; CND; SSCP; GICSP.
+ Must have a Top-Secret Clearance.
**Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:**
+ Strong understanding of operational processes, service delivery models, and organizational workflows.
+ Familiarity with performance metrics, KPIs, and quality assurance frameworks.
+ Working knowledge of compliance standards, safety regulations, and internal policy enforcement.
+ Knowledge of resource planning, scheduling, and staffing strategies.
+ Familiarity with project management methodologies and change management practices.
+ Ability to lead diverse teams, provide direction, and motivate staff toward operational goals.
+ Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to assess issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions.
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to convey technical and non-technical information clearly to all levels.
+ Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines in fast-paced environments.
+ Ability to manage day-to-day operational challenges with a balance of strategic oversight and tactical execution.
+ Ability to quickly learn new systems, tools, and processes.
+ Ability to adapt to shifting priorities and lead through change.
