Job Summary
The Deputy Managing Director plays a pivotal role as a member of the Executive Management Team. The DMD is responsible for ensuring the smooth day to day operations of the bank with particular emphasis on Risk Management, Compliance, Operations, Information Technology, Operational Resilience, Innovation and Transformation initiatives whilst ensuring strong operational controls and resilience. Functions reporting directly to the position include the Head of Risk Management & Compliance, Head of Operations, Head of Information Technology, Head of Human Resources and Head of Corporate Services.
The DMD is charged with responsibility for providing strategic leadership and oversight necessary to ensure that the Bank achieves its strategic intent while also maintaining strong and effective operational controls and compliance with all local laws, ACPR, EU and EBA regulations, bank policies and procedures.
Primary Responsibilities:
Act as 2nd Effective Manager and Deputy Managing Director providing effective oversight to the bank's Operations directly supervising the Risk Management & Compliance, Operations, Information Technology, Human Resources, Corporate Services and Customer Service teams. Oversee the end-to-end management of enterprise risks and ensure compliance with all laws and regulations. Develop and lead the implementation of strategies to ensure scalability of the bank's operations to support business growth and regulatory compliance. Develop and institutionalize processes to drive cost efficiencies, reduce turnaround time for transaction processing, eliminate waste and redundancies, improve cost to income ratio as well as optimize service delivery and customer experience. Oversee the provision of timely and appropriate resolution to customer complaints when issues have not been resolved within the respective departments or functions; Oversee Bank technology systems and procedures building resilience into all systems, platforms, workflows, and processes. Accountable for ensuring system integrity, system stability, data consistency and data reliability. Lead the delivery of proactive and effective customer service while ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, policies and procedures. Develop and sustain a culture of responsiveness to Internal Audits, Internal Control reviews and Regulatory examinations and, oversee the management of the audit of the departments under the DMD's span of control to ensure the satisfactory audit and examination outcomes. Accountable for the periodic conduct of staff evaluations, skills gap analysis and training needs. Provide effective oversight to the Head of HR to ensure prompt and timely development and execution of HR Strategy, Staffing, Succession and training plans. Working in collaboration with the CEO, provide guidance to the HR team in the development and execution of strategies to strengthen Corporate Culture, promote high employee morale and optimize staff retention. Provide oversight to the Head of HR to ensure the timely development and execution of HR policies aligned with labour laws, timely periodic employee appraisals, ensure compensation plans are aligned with market and lead employee bonding initiatives. Develop individual & team goals and implement execution plans to ensure compliance with regulations and policies and, achievement of corporate, departmental and team goals. Oversee Vendor Management to ensure timely completion of projects as designed as well as compliance with vendor management framework and SLAs, policies and regulations. Oversee the delivery of value-adding and cost-efficient administrative services to the organization including procurement, facilities and premises management. Participate and contribute to deliberations in Management Committee meetings and Policy making. Support and advise the CEO on strategic and tactical matters pertaining to the bank's operations and relevant for safe and sound banking.Required Qualifications & Competences:
Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a STEM course with relevant certifications in Information Technology, Process improvement and Operations. Extensive knowledge and experience in banking operations and information Technology. [Minimum of 18 years]. Hands on experience with ILAAP and ECL computation. Hands on experience in overseeing Transaction Banking Operations, Treasury Operations and Loan Operations with good understanding of Risk Management Systems, Core Banking Applications and Payment applications such as Finacle, SWIFT Payment systems and FBTI. Extensive knowledge of French and EU banking regulations pertaining to Operational Resilience, Information Technology, Systems, Operations and Data. Proficient in use of technology to deliver cutting edge solutions to the bank and its customers. Must have analytical, decision-making and problem solving skills; Must possess the proven ability to balance multiple tasks and projects simultaneously within a limited time frame. Possess strong attention to detail, strong organizational, interpersonal, communication and customer relations skills. Proficient in building high performance teams and general management. Must be flexible and adaptable to change, willing to embrace new ideas and able to train, develop and mentor employees in Risk Management & Compliance, Operations, Information Technology, and Data Governance functions.
