Deputy General Manager - O&U
1. Utility Operations & Management Lead operation & maintenance (O&M) of utilities: compressed air systems, cooling towers, water treatment plants, boilers, effluent treatment plant (ETP), reverse osmosis (RO) systems, and demineralized (DM) water units. Ensure reliable and continuous supply of utilities with optimal energy and resource consumption. Monitor KPIs – plant availability, efficiency, consumption norms, cost per unit, and downtime. 2. Power & Energy Management Coordinate with power distribution/utilization teams for stable power supply. Drive energy conservation initiatives across utilities. Implement best practices in energy management (ISO 50001 standards preferable). 3. Offsite Infrastructure & Facilities Manage offsite facilities like raw water intake systems, tank farms, pipelines, effluent drainage, and firefighting systems. Oversee compliance with environmental and safety norms in handling fuel, chemicals, and water discharge. 4. People Leadership Lead a multi-disciplinary team of engineers, technicians, and operators. Drive skill development, performance culture, and cross-functional collaboration. Ensure 24/7 shift readiness with effective manpower planning. 5. Capex & Projects Plan and execute utility-related projects, upgrades, and expansions. Coordinate with project teams, OEMs, and contractors for on-time and quality execution. 6. Safety, Compliance & Sustainability Ensure strict adherence to HSE (Health, Safety & Environment) standards. Liaise with statutory bodies (GPCB, CPCB, DISH) for clearances, audits, and reporting. Drive sustainability initiatives in water reuse, waste heat recovery, and emissions control. 7. Stakeholder Management Coordinate with production, maintenance, QA/QC, logistics, and procurement teams. Represent utilities in cross-functional meetings, audits, and reviews. Education: B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical / Electrical / Chemical Engineering or related field Experience: 15–20 years of experience in utility & offsite operations in large-scale process industries (preferably non-ferrous metals, chemicals, power, or oil & gas) Minimum 5 years in a leadership role handling large utility infrastructure Technical Competencies: Expertise in utility system design, operation, and troubleshooting Knowledge of DCS/PLC-controlled utility systems Understanding of environmental norms and water-energy-waste management Familiarity with ISO standards (14001, 45001, 50001) Behavioral Competencies: Leadership & People Management Strategic Planning & Execution Problem Solving & Decision Making Cross-functional Collaboration Change Management
