Deputy General Counsel, Litigation - REMOTEJob Description

The Deputy General Counsel Litigation leads the company’s litigation strategy, manages all aspects of legal disputes and ensures effective resolution. The position provides direction and leadership to non-lawyer and lawyer professionals and is a key member of the legal department’s leadership team.

Responsibilities

Lead and mentor a team of attorneys and support staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performance cultureOversee all company litigation matters, including commercial, employment, anti-trust, and federal and state regulatory inquiriesDevelop and implement litigation and risk management strategies that align with Prime’s business objectives, mitigate risk and protect the company’s brand and businessProvide strategic advice to senior leaders on the most complex legal scenariosSelect, manage, and evaluate external legal counsel to ensure high-quality representationOversee Prime's Records and Information Management (RIM) program, eDiscovery platform, employment law and HR support functionsOther duties as assigned

Education and Experience

Juris Doctor degree and current state attorney's license15 years of relevant work experience, including 12 years of experience as an attorney and 5 years representing managed care companies, health care clients, or clients in highly regulated, complex industries10 years of leadership/people management experienceMust be eligible to work in the United States without the need for work visa or residency sponsorship

Additional Qualifications

Advanced knowledge of PBM regulatory frameworks and healthcare law, with demonstrated ability to proactively identify and address emerging legal risksProvides strategic legal guidance to business leaders, translating complex legal requirements into actionable business strategiesLeads legal support for key business initiatives, including product development, strategic partnerships, and compliance programsCollaborates with senior compliance, clinical, and operational leaders to align legal strategy with enterprise objectivesOversees outside counsel on significant matters, including litigation, investigations, and regulatory inquiriesContributes to the development of internal legal policies and training programs to enhance organizational legal literacy

Preferred Qualifications

5 years across a wide variety of legal functions (corporate governance, dispute resolution, contract negotiation, employment law, audits/investigations, regulatory compliance)3 years of experience advising senior business leaders on legal strategy, risk mitigation, and regulatory interpretationDemonstrated experience in federal healthcare laws and regulations such as HIPAA, Anti-Kickback Statute, and False Claims Act, with a focus on PBM and managed care operationsExperience engaging with regulatory bodies (e.g., CMS, OIG, state pharmacy boards) and contributing to internal or external policy initiatives

Potential pay for this position ranges from $217,000.00 - $369,000.00 based on experience and skills.
