Northwestern State University's College of Nursing and School of Allied Health (CONSAH) invites applications for the Department Head for the School of Allied Health (SAH), a 12-month, full-time faculty position appointment, available in Shreveport beginning August 4, 2025.

Minimum Qualifications
Doctorate degree or currently enrolled in doctoral degree program with expected completion within next 12-24months; Eligible for membership on undergraduate and graduate faculty; Unencumbered licensure status and/or certification as applicable as an allied health professional. At least three (3) years of clinical experience in allied health. At least seven (7) years of allied health academic experience. Must be able to pass a background check and shall meet the required standards defined by the University.
Job Specification
•Serve as the primary representative for all SAH degree programs to university leadership and external stakeholders.
•Provide leadership for SAH faculty members in the areas of academics, research, service, and administration.
•Oversee the supervision and evaluation of SAH faculty and staff, including teaching assignments and service responsibilities.
•Collaborate with the SAH Program Directors to ensure curriculum coherence, policy alignment, and academic excellence across all levels.
•Provide oversight of course offerings to ensure compliance with university, state, SACSCOC, and specialized accrediting agency guidelines.
•Participate in the CONSAH budget planning process and manage SAH related expenses and revenues.
•Teach allied health courses in alignment with the CONSAH workload policy, using evidence based, student-centered pedagogy.
•Maintain accurate records and documentation for undergraduate and graduate programs in accordance with University and State policies.
•Lead strategic planning to expand undergraduate and graduate program offerings and enhance the reputation and reach of SAH.
•Build and maintain partnerships with community leaders, civic organizations, and industry representatives to support program development and clinical education.
•Actively recruit and retain students in SAH programs through outreach, advising, and mentorship.
•Collaborate with program directors to assess and report student learning outcomes and program effectiveness.
•Coordinate and preside over SAH meetings, promoting open communication and shared governance.
•Support faculty professional development and foster a positive, collaborative work culture.
•Serve on School, College, and University committees and represent SAH at academic and professional events.
•Ensure a supportive, high-quality student experience grounded in professionalism and academic excellence.
•Travel as necessary, as determined by the Dean.
